Offense needs to be carrying the defenses pads after this game.
Our coaches consider Burrell our number one corner so that probably won’t happen…. Did Burrell play that bad of a game? He didn’t seem targeted that much.
Because I look at comparative scores.
I know they don’t correlate in every situation but I think they do the majority of the time.
When evaluating how good Pitt is, I look at who they barely beat but were outplayed by (WVU) who just lost at home to perennial doormat Kansas.
We didn’t take advantage in 2018 but UF turned out to be pretty good that year anyway and we had Cornbread. If the Vols can punch Florida in the mouth they’ll fold because they’re front runners who feel sorry for themselves when everything isn’t going their way.Well worth it for what they did to the UF/AR hype train last night. Hats off to the Cats. Now we just need to do our part and drive another nail in the Gators’ coffin.
Tennessee still has 75.4% odds in winning at this point. We have the lead. They have a hobbling QB2.
We are actually dominating this game just have two bad special teams mistakes.
Also, for all the hand-wringing about our DL. They're wrecking the backfield.
Yes, I think it is pretty obvious watching hadden mask his receiver and not allowing much separation all game. Then you watch Burrell bail too quickly and give up easy throws. I think they like Burrell because he is a good tackler and good against the run. But he is not a good cover corner. Our fans don’t want to hear it but the only mainstay in cb discussions has been Burrell…. They obviously trust him more…. Did you feel that Pitt targeted him much during the game?
Serious question. Are our secondary problems the result of personnel, or are they the result of the coverages being called? I know everyone loves to point out Burrell. But is he really that bad, or are our coaches calling bad coverages? It just seems like we're giving so much cushion to receivers. I'm starting to think it's more the coverages being called than it is the DBs.
Leopold is a fantastic coach. I wanted him before JH. Dude is a winner. And if Slovis gets healthy, Pitt likely wins the ACC this year. Clemson has no QB still.Kansas has a really good coach who can make that team competitive in the Big XII. They beat Texas and should have beaten OU last year. Pitt is a very solid team.
That's exactly right, bend don't break. Our philosophy is bend don’t break. It didn’t work at the end of the game but did in the balance. Hard to see a 270 lb TE hurdling our safety. Outside of that and the long run, they had zero big plays.
I only saw two throws against him where he appeared to be in man coverage and both times he was close to the guy…. The one in the end zone…. He definitely could have played better but he still had an arm in the way and the receiver made a diving catch….. I saw a few other plays where he flashed on the screen where he was in zone coverage…. There is no way for any of us to No who was out of position…. I know one play that I was watching( not involving Burrell)… both linebackers ran and covered the same zone. In the first game….it looked like we were rolling coverage to help out the younger DBs more… The staff has been talking him up as our next drafted cb to recruits so I just don’t think they are looking to replace him.Imo, he did. He still looks lost to me. He's nowhere near the WR most times, and when he is with the WR, he still gives up the catch(Pitts tying TD). Really though, all the DBs struggle
All in all a great win IMO. First win over a top 25 team on the road since Miami in 2003. We faced adversity from our own mistakes but still found a way to win. I think winning a close game when we made quite a few mistakes and it seemed like we tried to give them the game will only help them in the future.
