I’m still surprised we haven’t gotten traction on basically any highly coveted RBs since Heup has been here.
I don't think that's an accurate statement. There's not typically a lot of super "highly coveted" running backs in the portal. This year I can think of 3: Jamyrr Gibbs, Zach Evans, and Tiyon Evans. Obviously Tiyon wasn't an option. But I'd argue we had "traction" with the other two. We just didn't land them. Dixon was highly taleted, maybe not highly coveted - for the same reason he didn't last a week.

We didn't hit on medium coveted RBs for one reason or another. Is what it is. I think after the world sees what Small and the rest of this group does then it'll turn "traction" into transfer paperwork.

Edit: thought we were talking about transfers. But we did get two 4-stars in the last class.

2021: Tiyon Evans was the #1 JuCo RB in country, but I guess he was a Pruitt guy?
2022: JWT is a top 25 national RB in the class, Sampson is a top 50 national RB in the class
2023: TBD

We've only got one season of production so may be harder to get traction because of that. Our RB room is also pretty young still so may not feel like it's a group that needs heavy recruiting for yet.

Top 25 RBs aren't want people are talking about when they want a blue chip running back. I think it's important that we follow up with a legitimate top 5 running back the class following Nico's.

Well that's just dumb then. Focus on top 5 classes before you start trying to cherry pick and complain about every position.

Landing a top 5 QB in Nico, hasn't even gotten to campus and people are shifting to complain about RBs now despite the RBs we have doing pretty good.

Small has a career YPC of 5.4 so far and Wright is at 5.1. I think we've got some solid RBs that we just need to let develop. Wright only has 10 games under his belt at this point and Small only has 18.

yeah I meant 5 stars. I’m not saying our hail last year was bad at all, just want to be in the hunt for some ELITE backs

Having an elite back would definitely help us in short yardage situations vs the big boys we play. Way too many times we got dominated up front on 3rd/4th and short. Totally whooped up front and running backs easily tackled. Gotta get that fixed

Only 2 5 stars in the '23 class. Rueben Owens (going to Louisville) and Richard Young (going to Bama)

2022 class only had 1 5 star RB Nick Singleton and he went to Penn State
2021 class had 3 Henderson to Ohio State, Shipley to Clemson and Wheaton to Bama

So it might actually be one of the hardest positions to land a 5 star... I'd say set the sights on a top 25 RB that's a 4 star (you know like JWT...) and then hope that he develops and produces while here so we see them get drafted.

I hate Florida, but I am starting to really hate Mark Stoops. Right now, I would like to see KY and FL battle each other and FL win by 1 point to crush Stoops.

I'll be honest....I'd rather Florida boat race Kensucky and then coast into Knoxville with a huge ego about how good they are at 3-0 only to then get crushed by the good guys.

Kentucky losing a lot this season when they return their "projected first round QB" is what dreams are made of friends. Hoping they lose 5 or 6 games at least

Trying to get an elite runningback recruit is not dumb. Probably the weirdest take ive ever seen on a recruiting board.

No one is complaining. We are bringing in good players. An elite runningback back that comes in for Nico's sophomore year will make us better. To win the SEC you need an elite back field. That can be made up with upper classmen with the talent level of Small and Wright but you have to sprinkle in high level bonafide NFL talent. The only way to get this is to continue showing what the offense can do on the field which we are.

I think the only area to complain so far would be DE and CB

Nope, need it to be a slog fest, 10 OT game with multiple injuries to Florida’s starters. I don’t care if we win because Florida was decimated by injuries just that we win.

From a recruiting standpoint?

Hard to complain about DL...2023 class we have Bradley & Herring in the boat and in the 2022 class we landed West, Pearce, and Josephs

CB I can agree with, but in the 2023 class we seem to be addressing it. Jordan Matthews, Sylvester Smith, & Rickey Gibson could all end up being pretty big gets in the secondary.

There are 2 composite 5-star RBs this year. We aren't beating Bama for a RB anytime soon and the other wasn't interested in playing in the SEC. Its was between Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisville. Now the number 5 and 6 backs might be reconsidering their schools after week 1.

Sorry, for that I meant from a performance standpoint dating back to last year. We got some good edge guys last class and a good haul of DBs this year
