Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

AIC, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana all coming out of Seattle around the same time. That's an insane amount of talent.

That performance from Layne on Unplugged was amazing and sad all at once. It was clear that he was diminishing physically but he could still put on a hell of a performance.

Rage and TOOL from LA at the same time. Insane. Read an article the other day...70%!!! Of music downloaded right now in 2022 is more than 20 years old. Whats that tell ya?

It tells me that Millennials and Generation Z are, not unexpectedly, really struggling right now with the Bidenflation, but older generations have a little more money put away. Just imagine if the younger generations actually had to make rent or student loan payments for the last 2.5 years.

That's an... interesting take.

That music more than 20 years old exists in vastly higher quantity and that mathematical inevitability is exactly that.

All of this talk about 90s rock and I haven't mentioned one of my favorite songs of that era:

I definitely like STP...they are like Nirvana to me though in that they had a half dozen bangers spread out over a couple albums. Each disk they released only having a couple after their debut albums that had several good jams. Just my opinion...

There arent a lot of albums by anyone that one could pop the disk in and just let it play and every song be good. Top ofy head...

Pearl Jam . Ten.
Rage. Self titled AND evil empire
Pink Floyd . Pulse mb DSOTMoon
AIC unplugged.
TOOL. Aenema AND Lateralus
Nirvana Unplugged is close

I understand music is as subjective as anything could ever be, and my tastes are as strange as any. I am actually going to see the Front Bottoms in October and taking my daughter. They are hilarious and not super talented...but we dig their self deprecating humor lol..

Another band nobody here has probably ever heard...band geeks so funky they have been on the tonight show and sold out Madison Square Garden despite all their songs but 1 being instrumental...i give you Vulfpeck:

On Colbert

Sold out MSG singing along to a song without words...these nerds are funky...its like Revenge of the Nerds but this actually happened in real life. Dudes can jam. May even get laid on occasion.

Edit: Dean Town with much better sound quality and the dudes in their normal "studio" ...a living room. Note the 15 MILLION views tho, not bad for a bunch of music theory nerds. If funk like this doesnt get your head bobbing then you may need your head checked out haha...

I can dig any kind of music as long as the performers are killing it. Except maybe jazz lol...

As you age..you may dig jazz. Bill Ward was the best rock drummer in my opine. I had bootleg Live at Last on cassette

Faith No More actually came out with an album back in 2015. Sol Invictus. It's actually pretty good. It's been 7 years ago but not many people know they had an album more recently.

Speaking of faith no more...did you know Mike Patton performed most of the dark seeker sounds in the movie I am legend?

No I didn't. And I'll be honest with you I still haven't seen that movie. Guess that is one I'll try and watch soon.
