i agree with Swain, and i'll take it a step further and say the real reason Roman Harper put that out there was just good old fashioned Rat Poison from a bammer. he definitely has anterior motives.Yesterday Swain was discussing Roman Harper’s “10-2” comment and said that he doesn’t think that’s realistic. Also said that if a Vol fan says “nah, I think 8 or 9 wins” then the fan police come out and say that they’re a NegaVol. Swain said that person is not being negative, he’s being realistic, and that’s better for the team. Ergo NegaVols are better fans FYI.
Also yesterday Tony B said the defense won’t be improved this year. Call in today to tell him why he’s wrong.
Happy Friday y’all.
Garbage...dude is the only artist in the Rock, Gospel, Blues and Country HOFs.
Go take aon some other hack. Elvis had a 3.5 to 4 octave range...and his voice was f'n beautiful.
For fun go listen to him sing "memories" and then "Tryin to get to you" from the 68 special...it does not even sound like the same person..that is real f'n versatility.

as for TB...i just can't care.
josh pate had the best take on TN football this year: "Tennessee is an 'any given saturday' team, not an 'every given saturday' team." and that's simply due to the the fact that no one knows how consistent we will be at anything yet to win every saturday, but everyone looks at the personnel, the offense, etc...and says "i wouldnt' be shocked if Tennessee beat 'fill in the blank team' ".
as for the defense, i think there's this notion out there somewhere that this defense has to get a whole lot better, fast. and to a certain degree that's true, it's still relative to what we were last year. we were well in to the bottom 1/3 of defenses in the country against the pass. that's because of 2 things. pass rush and db play.
we're deeper at CB this year than last, and the quality of that depth is better. what we don't know yet is if they're productive. but i think there's reason to be on the optimistic side right now.
as for pass rush, kind of the same thing....the edge players should be better, and the quality of depth improved.
so if we can go from bottom 1/3 in the country in pass defense to just fringe top 1/3 (ranked somewhere in the 40's vs. 120's), that'd be drastic improvement, but doesn't require us to be a top 15-20 type defense.
a lot will depend on the offenses we play too. last year we played some great offenses with great qb's. some of that has changed for this year, and even with the ones that may have some "names" at QB, there's still ?'s about how productive they will be in their new offenses (pitt, USCe, LSU etc...). another thing to consider is, how efficient is our own offense going to be this year vs. last? while we will run at a fast pace, will we see more drives stringing together 1st down after 1st down, or will we continue to see the quick 3 and outs we experienced some last year, putting more pressure on the defense? i think the offense being more efficient will help a lot. and i think it will be for the most part.
long story short, i'm writing the defense off this year. partly because i do expect there'll be games that will frustrate us, this isn't a top 20 defense. they will give up plays/points. and partly because of the aforementioned reasons above.
Finally after a long day at work and then church, I get to sit down to catch up, and there’s so many pages! Imagine my disappointment when y’all are arguing musical taste…again. LOL I remember my college music professor saying after he went over how the Beatles grew in 10 years what it took classical hundreds of years, and they led the way for many others that came after them, that there were always those that had to make themselves superior to whatever was popular and find ways to put it down. He said we like what we like, and we can also study and appreciate what is excellent without having to mix the two. So someone can have an amazing voice that people love to hear sing because it touches them even if that voice barely goes over an octave. And you can appreciate a singer that hits 4 octaves flawlessly without ever wanting to play a song of theirs again. Y’all brought that back to my memory from 1984!!!Music! “Rocky Top” is the best!
me too. and it wasn't like we were giving up 3rd & 2. i can't remember how many times it felt like we'd do great work on 1st and 2nd down, get a team in 3rd and long...often...and still give up a 1st. really frustrating.Yes, I think the offense will be better and that might make things easier for the defense. Especially if we figure out how to milk the clock in a few choice situations. I know Heupel mentioned running the 4 min offense in practice.
I believe we were 2nd to last in the SEC in 3rd down defense in 2021. That’s still my biggest concern.
Bob Dylan may have been a good song writer but singing wise for me was painful to listen to. Singing through one's nose never comes out good. lolgreatest songwriter - Dylan and its not even close
