Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

You talking about some cold air intake or a K&N filter? I am no expert, but am skeptical after running one on my old 1.8T.
Maybe with tuned exhaust. What is sucked must be farted.

I bought an actual intake, not just the filter. I agree with you though that with better exhaust it would greatly increase airflow. Feels like a gained a few horses on the top end /VTEC from about 4.5k to 7.5k rpms... while not having changed anything on the exhaust side to increase airflow, doesnt that backpressure help with torque at lower RPMs? Maybe not...engines are basically just fans and moving more air period seems like should always be better. I honestly havent looked into exhaust bc all these kids with exhaust on 4cyl sound like weedeaters and are waaay too loud and high pitched. My car makes all its noise from the intake and it sounds like a V6 running wide open ..not high pitched noise like the mufflers I hear frequently. I would pay the $200 for this intake just for how it growls now under acceleration alone honestly lol...FWIW, Mugen makes the best performance stuff for Hondas but its pricey. The Mugen owners are related to Honda owners so they get engines/cars before they go on sale to the public. So when like the new 2022 Civic type R drops this winter (315hp) Mugen will have intake, headers, etc available for it from day 1. I believe in Japan you can still have Mugen parts dealer installed and under warranty etc

I think Honda motors are top notch. I was even contemplating doing some lite mods on my V6, so was looking at things such as this, and read some articles that they are really not effective. I will go look again. Stock it is 278HP, but I bet if I could get it to 300HP it would be a hoot.

What are you driving a Pilot? Honda V6 VTEC is ridiculous man. I love Honda anything...if you have a mortar mixer/pressure washer etc you either have a Honda or you have junk. Kohler and Yamaha make decent small engines, Briggs and Tecumseh etc are junk...but nothing compares to a Honda for reliability. Their small engines also have oil sensors that disable it from starting if your oil is way low. They are nearly idiot proof. I used to ride CBR ricerocket street bikes too ...best stuff around. CBR1000R fireblade is still the best. 214hp on a 400lb bike is insane. My lil pocket rocket car doesnt make 200hp!!
This is the more expensive SP version...about $28k for a bike that will outrun a $500k supercar up until its electronically limited 186mph...they can go over 200 with a reflash of cpu

Edit: this video MUCH better than the 1st one...camera on helmet shows what it looks like to actually ride a rocket...i get a little adrenaline just watching it lmao
After reflash etc...240hp

I never figured you for a high speed guy Marcus. My closest foray into Honda other than lawn equipment was test driving a Honda S-2000 about 20 years ago. It was a fun to drive car, but my wife at the time stalled it every time she tried to take away from a dead stop. Those little Honda engines like to rev and you have to keep them in the 7000 rpm range all the time. I don't know what your plans are for your Honda, but if you want more power get a tune from someone that specializes in Honda's and next get nitrous.

Been in a couple bike wrecks when i was younger and had to put em down when i had my 1st kid 21 years ago...my 1st wreck wasn't bad for me, just my bike...was laid down and tucked in a sweeping left hander going about 60 and hit an opossum. Cut flips tail over nose with the bike thru a couple front yards and up into some big bushes taller than me. Just flesh wounds and tears over my bike. $3500 worth of handle bars, all fairings etc. My 2nd wreck i wasnt going fast either, about 70mph but a lady pulled out from my right and Tboned me with her mustang. Crushed my leg between her bumper and the frame shattering both shin bones..i flew off over my handlebars but my knees hit the bars/windshield causing my helmet to fly off. I came to a stop about 90feet up the street unconscious with a grapefruit growing from my shaved head, lost a third of skin on my back, shattered leg, staples in my face and lots of stitches but the real problem was my head. Was comatose for 2.5days. The last night, the Drs told my mom they wanted to remove part of my skull to relieve pressure on the brain. She asked them to wait until next day so she could pray about it. I woke up for the 1st time the next morning and avoided that surgery. No pain meds given due to brain injury...road rash everywhere man. That sucked. I prob will not get another bike again unless i get a cancer diagnosis etc, wearing leathers on a track is safe but nobody sees riders on the road. Bikes are just too small. I had a dozen times where i would have been killed if i hadnt swerved onto a shoulder or into another lane etc, and this is before smart phones and texting while driving. I will have to stick to cars for now to stay alive lol...

Anybody know how to clean and condition perforated leather seats? I spotted a remote car cleaning dude the other day and asked him for price. He had a nice mobile stop for everything.
He looked at my car and said my seats were dry and prone to cracking. I have always thought that myself and they are stiff leather. Not that kind of plushy old school leather. Looking at some forums, it seems the seats are vinyl coated, but that leaves me scratching my head. Why have leather then.
The info is all over the place. Like this, from a Honda dealer at that:

It's best to use a cleansing solution in your Honda leather interior that's not too harsh and has a neutral pH. To clean the upholstery, gently wipe the seats with a microfiber cloth or a brush with soft bristles. Also, be careful not to get any cleaning solution into the perforations of the seats.

Now how am I to clean the seats with getting any conditioner in the thousands of perforations?
I see Lexol, and even water/vinegar.

I am staring to think if they are vinyl coated, then no conditioning required.

I'm picking up lunch before heading into the office. Restaurant tv has the cornhole world championship on. Which is bad enough.

But I just watched the women's division. What? Why on Earth do you need a separate women's division? It's throwing bean bags. At a board. Like 40 feet away.

Maybe a lingerie or beach version? May get another 1000 eyes on it, doubling the viewership.

Who is this thread named after?
Gramps. A regular of the PF. He was a moderate who liked to goad people. He and hog used to go at it. I believe he called hog, "pig or piglet"
He loved Jesus, his family, and he loved the Vols. He passed away from cancer(?).

GrandVol was the poster who made the recommendation to name this thread after Gramps.

Fun fact: the mods initially denied our request for OT

Ha, you would think so. (Though the women participating today I would not wish to see in lingerie).
