Just visited my living grandmother who also has Alzheimer’s. It’s brutal. Many of you know

I was so lucky with the one who had Alzheimer's. She would come out of it for me. I don't know why but I was an anchor point for her. Maybe because I was the youngest grandchild but I was able to get her out of her daze by spending 10 minutes with her. I'd see her go back to it if I wasn't actively engaging her. I regret that I wasn't able to spend more time with her and that I didn't take the time that I did have (I was in college but I prob. could've peeled away more often for visits) but I'm also very grateful for the time that I did get and for those moments of clarity when the disease had her.

I know I got them more than my mother did and my mom could've probably used it more. Granny's death was really tough on her. It's never easy. Never. You just have to embrace what you do have and treasure the moments and memories.

It's not really funny tho the disparity. One NBA player could buy an entire team on league minimum. Women's Basketball needs a Pat Summitt. We somewhat equalized the sport here when she was alive and still do because support for the LVs is still very strong. Sell out crowds for women's games. And her personality was so strong that we all loved her and would've followed her to the gates of hell. An upstart sport needs that and the women's game is still in its upstart phase. It will never get there without some Pats but it does also need Britneys.

I mean right now when we look at the WNBA we're looking at an unfinished legacy.
It's freaking boring and always will be...almost nobody watches it and that is why they don't make a lot of money.

Embarrassing. Can't wait to put those days behind us.

Btw what do you predict we'll be ranked? I'm guessing 18th-24th. Haven't looked at any other preseason predictions though, just a guess.
I’ve seen us ranked by the preseason mags and guys anywhere from 14th to 25th. Haven’t seen one that didn’t have us ranked though so that makes me think we’ll be somewhere between 18th to 25th range

Remember when Tennessee used to have this attitude View attachment 475749

It's easy to have that attitude when you're on top and we had it then. We had it for several years after the decline and made some dumb decisions because of hubris (hiring Kiffin knowing full well he'd leave and taking no action to have a plan when he told us he'd leave for USC beause we're Tennessee and we can't fail). We need the attitude of we're climbing that damn mountain and no one is stopping us. It's a different mindset for a different situation but the goal is the same.

Ya… reminds me of us in the 90’s until we went with the cheap hires and terrible leadership Hopefully Heupel and White can restore some pride and winning around here in the football department
I was inferring that they are willing to go further than anyone else, and not in a good way. I wouldn’t put anything past that program if it meant a win for them.

Oh sure, Hopefully we can go further with the NIL than they can. Everyone associated with UT needs that attitude of we’ve got to get back to the top and do whatever it takes. Digging deep in pockets included.

My final STAR analysis says Bama is good NOT because they get 4&5 stars, but which 4&5 stars they get.

Not an ON3 fan, but they had their summary data for the 2022 draft. Bottom line of the 262 total picks there were 160 2&3 stars taken when 445 4&5 stars were available.

That is the good way…. I want us to be the same way.

Careful there. No one wants to be Penn State or be a part of any of the other scandals that left a trail of broken lives in the name of 'winning at all costs.' There is a line. Be ruthless in recruiting and strive for excellence in everything we do but there's absolutely a line I don't want us to ever cross. Covering up rape, murder, child abuse, or anything like that in the name of winning is something I think most of us want no part of.

Edit; posted for the reply (re: NarDuzzi) not necesssrily Brett’s tweet, although that’s a solid 8/10 quote on the coachspeak scale.
