Spent four months there while in the FAA academy and my wife and I fell in love with the city. Seemed like festivals were going on continuously. Brunch every weekend at Hatch. Dinner in the plaza district at Maples BBQ and dessert across the street at Pie Junkie. Sucks that Maples and Bleu Garten both closed around the time COVID began. We had planned to go back for the UT game in Norman in 2020, but the world had other ideas.

My mom taught me how to shoot when I was a kid but with a non-revolver and non-rifle I would def. need practice. There are some slides that I simply can't pull. I hate that too. Back when we had a lot of guns, it took me forever to get some of them to slide. Most I mastered but not all of them so I do know I need to be picky about what I choose and practice with it as well. I don't want something I need to do a workout just to pull.

Don't pull the slide back, push the handle forward. Sounds like it shouldn't be different, but it's much easier to chamber a round the second way.

Tip I heard from a defense trainer. Was really surprised at how much easier it was. Push the handle, allowing it to pull the slide from your other hand when at max extension. In addition to being easier for someone with less strength, it also tends to chamber the round cleaner.

Yeah, the Plaza is my favorite place in the city and Pie Junkie is fantastic. My wife and I have a couple of little ones though so we don’t get out much lately. I always say you can find good people wherever you go, and I’ve managed to do that here too. What kills me about it here though is the lack of nature. The pandemic really made that hit home. Arkansas is underrated, but it takes 3-4 hours to get there from here.

I also hate being surrounded by OU fans, but I can save that rant for another time.
