It's been a long time, but I used to be a big sci-fi reader. I've forgotten more than I remember, but I liked the Riverworld series of books by Philip Jose Farmer. Macroscope and also the Ox/Orn/Omnivore series by Piers Anthony were very good. The Ringworld series by Larry Niven was excellent hard sci-fi, as was The Mote in God's Eye, by Niven and Jerry Pournelle. If you want something relatively quick and light, try The Stainless Steel Rat by Harry Harrison. And obviously the Dune series by Frank Herbert were excellent.

idk. Guys in the regular posters bb thread are saying it's because he wants to reclassify and NC doesn't have spot for him if he does that, and he always liked SC, and he's only planning to stay a year anyway.

Given he was drafted in 1959, I'm guessing he doesn't count as the last 50 years under their methodology.

Have you read any Richard Matheson? Wrote I Am Legend. The ending to that book blew me away. Not the same as the Will Smith movie.

James Rollins sigma series is fun.

David Golemon event series is also a fun ride.

Joe Abercrombie is good as well.

My dog is still pretty young, eats every weird thing in the house. Yesterday, he pooped and my wife’s severed hair scrunchy was dangling out of his anus, with my son’s Luke Skywalker Lego torso embedded in the fecal material, of course I had to pull out the hair band, was like 4 inches up in there 🤮.

Get a puppy, they say.

Ya, they are super annoying at times. The books lose direction for a while too, just meanders. Worth reading, and if you enjoy it, know that there is a host of even better fantasy out there.

What are your thoughts on Abercrombie's latest? I loved loved loved the first 3, but I couldn't even finish the most recent one.

I had a dachshund/beagle mix that ate EVERYTHING she could get ahold of. Hangies were an almost daily occurrence with that dog.



I miss her.

You talking the Age of Madness trilogy? It's set 20 years after the first trilogy. I enjoyed those. It made me want to go back and read the first trilogy again to remember those how those characters got there. I will say I listened to some of it too and that narrator did a great job. You read his stand alone novels? They're good as well.

I got ‘gifted’ a young kitten by my son and his family this past weekend. Never mind mom doesn’t have time, not a cat person and did I mention I don’t have time? Get a kitten they say 🤢.
