BB is as straight laced as they come.I can assure you all (I know two of his family members, and some friend he grew up with)...I have no reason to lie about this. The kid is a 30 year old maturity wise and is trying to be as cautious in this decision as possible. please get off the kid's back. he is a great kid, a great football player, and would do the university proud. he wont pull any gerald jones, josh mcneil, tony robinson, leonard little, lamarcus coker, james banks, dwayne goodrich, jamal lewis, travis henry crap. we are talking tee martin, peyton manning, al wilson, jeff hall, will bartholomew kind of kid here character wise. sheez.

Tell us about this Butler character if you know him.

i dont know butler. i can assure you he is no"pimp" as some here refer to him. I think a more important character in the conversation is bryce's parents. they are very dedicated to him. they are very tight and have disciplined him very well growing up. butler would have to go through bryce's dad, and from what i hear that is a guy that you wouldn't be doing anything illegal, shady, or manipulative with...he simply wont stand for it. His character is quite intact. His parents simply want their son having as much help as possible. i think they are aware of how many kids make bad decisions with schools, or fall through the cracks when they get there. BB is not going to have that happen. I think Arthur learned some lessons and this has made BB and his parents pay attention to the business aspects of things. Butler is simply someone they trust in handling certain aspects of recruiting. its like i said...if it was a white farm kid out of kansas with a white former player who was helping him get recruited or taking him under his wing we wouldnt think a thing about it...too bad BB gets bad press for that.

I think you're way wrong on the racism accusations...just cool off a minute before you go throwing crap at everybody.

That is not true at all; most people here are simply frustrated that you are acting like 2008 is all that matters. If that were the case, Vanderbilt would be more attractive to recruits than Michigan is. Northwestern would be more attractive than Notre Dame. That just isn't the case because history matters. When a team has been good for almost its entire history and has won multiple national championships (Tennessee), a recruit is much more likely to lend that school credibility as opposed to somewhere like Oregon that will only be in the national championship hunt for one year out of about ten when everything falls into place.

I never argued that 2008 is all that matters. I see it the opposite way. I'm pointing out that nobody is really in a position to be calling Oregon an "average" anything after 2008 no matter what the history is. The people you refer to are acting like UT just came off of winning a national championship and Oregon had a losing season.

However, although I have not said 2008 is "all that matters", I will insist that, to recruits, history (beyond relevant coaches and players) does not (or should not) matter. At least not the way that it has been bandied about here.

To illustrate my point, answer this: how many of you are fans of UT because of their historical win/loss record or trophies? In other words, did you just decide one day that you needed to pick a college team to follow and you then analyzed the history books and decided to hedge your bets that UT might some day become the most winning team in history? I would venture to suggest that most have more substantial reasons for being a UT fan (going to the school, having family that went there, living there, etc.). If history is really what matters most to you, why aren't you all fans of whichever team has the most NC's?

Same applies to recruits. Past accolades do nothing for a recruit in the current situation. Neither do the accolades of teams in the same conference. That is simply due to the fact that every team in the entire NCAA, no matter how many wins or NC's they have, have had off years, off classes and stretches of bad years. Just because the odds are that boosters and fan bases will keep crying until a program gets fixed (because it used to be good) doesn't mean that a recruit should waste their 4-5 years there for the sake of history.

After consecutive losses to Oklahoma you beat them at home...by one...before going 5-5 in the Pac 10 and finishing 7-6...congrats

Yep. Wasn't the best season. Oklahoma probably thought it was a scrimmage.

I'll be so glad when Bryce Brown makes his decision so when I come to our board, I won't have to read about the Oregon Ducks anymore until our one-week 'don't overlook them' conversations in 2010 and 2013.

It would be great if all the Oregon promos were on an Oregon board instead of cluttering ours.

But, I guess desperate people do desperate things.

So, you won a game that most people now realize was a fluke and then went back to your old mediocre college football ways.

Same will be true if you beat UT in 2010, and then we beat UF a week later. We'll then play another 4 or 5 top 15 or teams that season with plenty of opportunities to make up for an early season loss. If we win those, and your game would once again be considered a fluke.

You're an out-of-conference game the week before our annual heated contest with a bitter rival. It's a scrimmage. The Gators are far and away the game that will occupy our attention.

Really... just be glad your Ducks won't face the same level of intensity that SEC rivals reserve for one another. You'd get your tails whipped a lot of more often if that were the case.

I am not upset. I am not throwing crap. I am giving my opinion on what I feel are unfair accusations about BB. He is a good kid with a good head on his shoulders. First of all we are hanging on to the words of a 17 yr. old kid to see if he is going to make our day or not, and then without knowing this kid we assume that he is getting "pimped" out by someone that we don't even know. He is trying to make a good decision. And yes, I believe if he were white we would see it that way instead of someone trying to be in the spotlight. Sorry...just what I believe.

"hey guys, was watchin some of BBs highlight reels on rivals and saw where LSU had an offical visit from him lined up on the 27th.....its the first i have heard of him visiting offically to them, although it does make sense.
Matt"

Yeah, Matt, yesterday's Baton Rouge paper said BB will visit LSU on 27th/28th but that it would be an unofficial visit (on his dime) and that his last official visit would probably be Miami, they opined. It also noted that LSU had recruited his brother pretty hard before he ended up at Miami.

They cheated in that game. Terrible home-cooking went on in that game.

Your points would be more effective without the racism edge. Really, Shannon may drop his scholarship based on the stuff folks here are talking about. You can't say Shannon is being a racist.

Outside saying racism is what motivates these perspectives, you made some good points.

there are rumblings that BB to the Vols is a done deal. There is a guy from TOS who seems to have solid intel and he's saying that he will be on the Hill. Let me say this, if BB commits to the Vols the sonic boom will be heard in Baton Rouge, Tuscaloser, Gainesville, and Athens.

Reading the article on scout makes me think several people know something we don't know abut BB committing to Tennessee. Sound like a Nuke deal where he might silent in this process.

Awesome news nonetheless!!!!:dance2:

Hopefully this is true. Brown would be a HUGE get, and it would make a very big statement.

Do you know Butler, Rex? What do you think about him?

You're a minister. Do you think he's the real deal?

You're a funny guy. I appreciate your humor...seriosuly I do. i think you are hearing me incorrectly. Maybe this will help.

First I never said Shannon is a racist...I am speaking particularly to the terms people on this board are using to describe BB.

When a black player makes a great play he is athletic, a white player makes the same play he is smart and a hard-worker. When a white player gets help it is a mentor, when a black player doe sthe same thing, some on this sight are calling him a pimp. When a white player is interviewed and makes sense we say that guy is smart, when a black player does the same thing, we call him articulate. That is all i am saying...we need to be sure that we don't make any accusations about BB unless we know him. Living in Wichita I hear amazing things about the kid and his family. I am only referring to those in the crowd who have made statements that are not true about BB. so...

on a side note...this morning the news here in wichita is that shannon is pulling the scholarship because he is trying to save face. If BB wants to go to Miami...shannon will take him in a heartbeat. They feel like he isn't coming there and are trying to keep their image intact.

See, now you go and get my hopes up.

I was more comfortable with us having the outside chance, it seems like UT never does anything the easy way.
