Johnson ended up not playing well. Bryson had a good day, but I believe DJ is the only one that has played well for the entire tournament. DJ just turned 38, so while he may continue to contend for another 5+ years, there are younger players that are becoming stars and making it more difficult.

I could offer my opinion as to why DJ, Bryson, Koepka, and Reed went, but much of the rest of the group is pretty washed up.
Like I just said 10 under six shots back in a major doesn't spell washed up to me and there are always going to be young players come along that is what keeps the sport alive and exciting. Johnson played one shot worse than the number one player so there's that. Golfer hits slumps just like baseball players. Like Spieth. He fell off the map for a while after being a world beater but he has worked his way back. But anyway all I am saying is that Johnson isn't washed up yet.

Man… this dude just walked by in the gym and carried the scent of 103 unwashed scrotums. I was almost gagging with him 30 feet away.

Bruv… how did it get this far? What in Odin’s Raven is happening down there?
I mean 103 is pretty detailed. Do not need to know at all how you came up with that analogy.

Went to the garden this morning and picked another bushel of tomatoes, 8 doz ears of corn and a basket of banana peppers. Nothing and I mean Nothing beats a couple of baloney and cheese sandwiches topped with a thick slice of a big ole Cherokee Purple tomato on top! for a nice late lunch!
Take the cheese off and that is my go to.

Interesting tidbit from Bud Elliott interview with the Clemson beat writer.

Tony Elliott is out at Clemson, and obviously we all know the history there with Tennessee and how close that arrangement came.

Clemson seems pretty happy that he's gone. Their offense had hit a lull last year - a lot of that can be put on the QB DJ Uilanflsuandogisha but a lot of people around the program thought the play calling was less than impressive.

I never heard this but going back to when Trevor Lawrence was coming out of Clemson, a lot of NFL scouts were like "what the hell was this offense he was running?" A lot of people had similar thoughts looking at Clemson film last year. Defense: elite. Offense: uhhh??

They also spent a lot of time in spring installing all sorts of plays that they never called during the season because they were not good or applicable calls.

Interesting. Glad we missed out.

The other side of those statements is that Dabo and everyone at Clemson is throwing Tony under the bus. I'm sure there's at least some of that in all of this as well. Says a lot about that program in general.

So….

Ya boy completely abandoned the RV idea for this summer to Montana and Wyoming but did score us a place to stay just outside of Bozeman in late September for 10 days. So we will fly. Allegiant direct from Nashville to Bozeman FTW. It looks like a really cool college town. Any VN peeps have food recommendations, short hikes (got kiddos) and scenic things to do?

Also, I do plan on a night in Jackson WY to do a circuit of Jackson Hole/GTNP. But will probably just do one day in Yellowstone… so, would you recommend the west/north/south loops for someone with just one day in mind, or is it actually practical to do two separate days while not actually staying in the park (we will be an hour from the west entrance).

I’m so friggin giddy.

@Ulysees E. McGill
It really just depends on what you're interested in. Geysers? Animals? Hiking? If you're OK taking in just the highlights 1 long day will do for the whole park. There are only 2 loops, north and south. It seems the most popular sites are on the south loop, but those aren't necessarily the ones you most want to see.

keep in mind that traffic can be a bear, especially on weekends. We had no problem with traffic when we were there because we followed the guidance, go early in the am or mid to late afternoon. Also check the road construction schedule. I don't remember when it ends, but a couple of popular areas will experience delays because of construction.

if you must see Old Faithful, check the predicted times for eruption (available online) and choose one early in the morning, but get there early and allow extra time for parking. That way you won't fight the worst crowds and you won't waste a lot of time waiting for it to erupt. But then, some of us think your time is more efficiently spent seeing another one, like maybe Grand geyser.

Last year we spent 5? days in Yellowstone and it wasn't enough because we were mostly doing what my inlaws wanted to do. We stayed about 30 minutes from the west entrance. Most national parks, and probably Yellowstone, have suggested itineraries for 1/2 day, 1 day, 2 days, etc based on the most popular sites.

Enjoy.

No way Pittman inherited a worse situation than Heupel.

You’re on crack if you think otherwise.

Heupel walked into an extremely volatile and sensitive environment that still hasn't completely stabilized.

However, he was also handed Hendon Hooker, and 5 NFL Draft picks to start with.

Arkansas was winless in the SEC for over 2 years. Not one SEC game in 24 months. Vanderbilt has managed to avoid that...

They had an average recruiting class ranking of #37 from 2017- to when.Pittman took over.
Tennessee had an average recruiting ranking of #16 in the easier division.
Both programs had busts and players leave their programs.

So YES. Pittman absolutely had a worse situation. And that doesn't diminish the outstanding job that Heupel ia doing.

Do any of y'all ever get tired of the petty arguing and simple minded scope of only seeing UT football in the scheme of college athletics? I mean Tennessee has Rivals...that have their own circumstances to deal with...that effect the conference.

It's not called the South Eastern Tennessee Vols Conference...🙄.

I mean, damn...Pittman walked into probably the worst situation since the formation of the SEC. But because were Vol fans...hey nobody can have greater problems than us!!
As a matter of fact, no one else has problems at all!

First, I actually agree that Pittman walked into a worse situation. But, to act like Heupel was just handed great players is false. This staff molded and taught these players, especially Hendon Hooker. Three of those "NFL Draft picks" probably aren't NFL draft picks under the previous staff. The level of player development under this staff has been phenomenal thus far. So, while we're acknowledging Pittman stepped into a worse situation, let's acknowledge what our staff has actually done as well instead of minimizing it by suggesting Heupel was "handed" something.

We were a trainwreck, but Arkansas was the Hindenburg. Sure, he didn't have an NCAA investigation to deal with, but as for everything else, Arkansas really was in worse shape. Nothing wrong in acknowledging that, and it doesn't lessen the incredible job Heupel and staff have done.
