I don't use a mesh system at home so I'm not much help. However I can tell you I bought a $200 Asus router and it kicks the chit out of my old netgear. Might look and see if they make mesh systems

I’m on a Surfboard modem with an Asus router that is clearly out of date.

Wireless per Ookla - 90Mbps Wireless per Xfinity - 213Mbps (you figure that difference out)

Upload with both is 24Mbps

My plan is for 600Mbps and 20Mbps upload

The modem is like 8-9 years old, I believe. Definitely not 15 years.

Well since you just do wireless and you are paying for 600mbps and you get 90mbps that's not good.

You got options

1. Buy a newer setup
2. Rent a newer setup
3. Look if you can change providers. Any fiber around you?
