Should U.S. Swap ‘Merchant of Death’ for Brittney Griner?

What don't people like about her? I know she had a domestic abuse charge but so did her spouse, and it just doesn't seem like that big of a deal that same-sex pro athletes got in a scrap. Is she woke or something? Is that why we hate her?

Dumped Glory?

***, your list of people you hate must be incredibly long.

And why does she need to vote, exactly? Voting is pretty fkn useless and it proves nothing about your commitment to democracy or the community or whatever you think it proves.

Pretty much the dumbest thing I’ve read on this site. Don’t vote…..don’t complain. Period. I didn’t say we shouldn’t try to get her back. She’s an American citizen with rights. You asked why people didn’t like her so you could argue with the responses that were given.

I don't think they are questionable. I think the charges are what they are. Now could they be dragging this out for some political reasons? Possibly. But let's be honest here, how much of a bargaining chip is Brittany Griner? I mean really? Its just a WNBA player, not a diplomat or scientist or even a journalist.

I find it interesting the level of trust some of you put in Russia’s legal system to be fair and impartial, given the remixed 1980s Cold War vibes between us and them.

And without question I think they’re using her as a pawn to leverage the release of political prisoners.

You usually protest because you want something different than what you have. Well, she got what she wished for. Let her rot.

Yeah, so if some Moms from 1/6 got locked up in Russia, you'd be saying they wished for it?

The **** some of you guys come up with....have the smallest bit of awareness FFS, and you'll realize how bad your reasoning is.

Possibly now maybe but in the grand scheme she is not a high level person that would want to make an example of. I tend to think she broke their law.

Just pretend that Brittney Is Ashli Babbitt. Is she worth being saved now?

What would be different about her life if she had voted 4x instead of 1x? Voting is not really rational. It's an exercise in futility for the individual and abstaining is a statement about your opposition to the status quo. People consistently voting for dogshit candidates are the ones who have no right to complain, TBH.

LOL, because the were protesting against rigged elections? Yeah, I don't think you understand what you are talking about Nancy.

I'm sure this makes sense in your head but you've failed to connect the dots for anybody else.

I have about as much faith in Russia's legal system as I have in ours.

Like I said, it is hard for me to believe that they initially targeted a WNBA player as a way to gain some kind of political leverage with the US. Hell, if anything, they would be offering Snowden up to the US for this arms dealer.

So if she was abstaining from voting then why did she suddenly start?I’m willing to bet that it was less to do with her statement about the status quo and more about her being too lazy to participate in basic democratic processes.

Who cares? What does this prove about anything? None of this is reason to hate anybody. How can you hate somebody for something so minor that I wouldn't even call it an offense? Where do you learn such hate?

She’s the perfect person to make an example of.

A gay, American female athlete with just enough fame to warrant a political response from our government, and elicit criticism from Americans who don’t care for her politics or lifestyle.

Putin knows how to keep us divided.

To be clear, I want to make sure that we are on the same page. I do think that there are politics being played on her arrest. But what I am saying is that I don't think this was a sting operation or that they went out to set a trap on her specifically. I think she actually did what she did and got caught.

It's Putin's fault?

You don’t need a sting operation to play politics. Sometimes all it takes is for an opportunity to present itself.

For as long as BG’s played pro ball in Russia, flying back and forth and whatnot, I’d be surprised if that was the first time she flew with vape cartridges…and I fully acknowledge it’s on her to know the law of the land where she’s playing.

But sometimes the rules don’t apply, until they do.

I’ll have to look back but I don’t think I used the word hate. You used that word.

You want to play semantics with this? You said you don't like her and you said "**** her" in a conversation about the nightmare she is living. You can try to claim on a technicality that you don't "hate" her but your attitude is hateful no matter how you choose to label your feelings.

Alas, the first conspiracy that Ras didn't accept ; )

I also say “**** the Yankees/Phillies/Mets” on nearly a weekly basis. I don’t literally hate them. You asked a question so that you could argue with everyone to make yourself feel morally superior. Have a good day little virtue signaler.

I asked "why do we hate her?" and then you answered the question. Why would you answer the question if you think you do not hate her? LOL. Please forgive my unwarranted confusion.

I'm a virtue signaler, says the guy virtue signaling about voting. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I highly doubt that you will accept that you are doing the same thing.
