Should U.S. Swap ‘Merchant of Death’ for Brittney Griner?

As opposed to our current President who can’t get world leaders on the phone when he’s trying to buy their oil. I’m sure the Saudis and Israelis have a ton of respect for JB.

These clowns are trying to get an Iran deal and the Iranians won't even talk to these fools. A Russian is a lead negotiator.

I’d trade him for all of our Americans sitting in prison over there. Then the next time he’s outside Russia I’d let him get accidentally killed. Since we have the ability to track every single person in the world now, he won’t be as big of a threat as he used to be.
Wait... is this a serious post or are you being funny?

Like most things the Biden Administration is in a position of weakness. They would have to over deliver to even have a chance to get a person out of jail who "should" be humbled by her experience and lead to introspection about her own personal thoughts of her country that she runs down. There is no more humbling example.

I think Trump could negotiate better as an ex-POTUS in this situation that the collective in this administration. Just a gut feeling about the respect for a real leader as seen abroad vs neo-liberal global pandering.
I know what you are saying and I'm don't think you are suggesting Trump intervenes, but if he did, all that would do is stir up more Russia collusion nonsense and likely get a "trumped up" Logan Act charge.

Part of this is probably politically motivated to not give her any leeway but possibly stupid enough to disrespect their laws out of hubris.
Well let's keep this in mind, her arrest came before February 24th (if I'm not mistaken), so the initial arrest was not driven by anything going on in Ukraine. I just think she broke the law over there. Different country. Different rules. Had she been in America and was rotting in a jail here for 5 months on the same charges, then that would be one thing. But these other countries play by different rules, so behave accordingly.

She is a turd , but she is our turd. Every effort should be made to retrieve her except giving them someone as dangerous as Victor Bout.
Returning him to the world stage would be a mistake.

LOL.

Being laughed at during a speech before the United Nations General Assembly would be an indication that Trump is not well-respected abroad, especially by our allies.
Do you think that President Biden is looked at any more favorably abroad than his predecessor?

Bingo!!! More people should watch Locked Up Abroad before traveling to backwards ass countries.

I think that’s the point he’s making…….

That was open question to anyone reading the thread. @EricStratton in particular.

I’m guessing for some, our trust in Russia’s justice system is based on who they have on trail.

And for the record, I don’t think the US should swap BG for a known terrorist, in spite of my belief that the charges against her are at best questionable.

No, she is not one of our own. She disavows what this country stands for while crying for protection from that very institution. **** her and others like her.

Why? Should we lobby for the release of every American in a foreign jail? Or release every foreigner in an American jail?

What don't people like about her? I know she had a domestic abuse charge but so did her spouse, and it just doesn't seem like that big of a deal that same-sex pro athletes got in a scrap. Is she woke or something? Is that why we hate her?

I personally don’t like her due to the admission of not voting until she was 31. So 5 years ago she was kneeling for the anthem but too ****ing lazy to vote? **** her. Meanwhile my 80 year old father stood in line in Unicoi County TN for two hours to vote In person…..during the height of Covid and a month after bypass surgery. **** her.

I don't think they are questionable. I think the charges are what they are. Now could they be dragging this out for some political reasons? Possibly. But let's be honest here, how much of a bargaining chip is Brittany Griner? I mean really? Its just a WNBA player, not a diplomat or scientist or even a journalist.

***, your list of people you hate must be incredibly long.

And why does she need to vote, exactly? Voting is pretty fkn useless and it proves nothing about your commitment to democracy or the community or whatever you think it proves.

You usually protest because you want something different than what you have. Well, she got what she wished for. Let her rot.

That’s quite the non sequitur.

Because BG protested during the anthem to bring awareness to police brutality, she wished to be jailed in a Russian prison, and should therefore rot.

Alrighty then. 🤔
