Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I dont mutch care for maters in their natural state, i am weird . I love turkey sammiches on wheat , white wheat, sourdough etc with 4 strips of bacon and provolone. We keep provolone for turkey and swiss for ham sammiches round here. Guldens spicy brown or Frenchs yellow moosetard and iceberg lettuce seals the deal. Don't purchase those heathen lettuces such as romaine etc. Pretty sure those are rabbit/mongoose food .

Btw....mongooses are 1 of very few mammals that frequently battle rival groups to serious injuries and death. As well as fornication DURING battle with rival gangs females, killing of rival pups and litters. Mongoose are social, communal etc like Meerkats....but mixed with HoneyBadgers which might be pound for pound the fiercest land animal on earth...they slay Cobras regularly like in Riki Tiki Tavi. Saw a video in my google feed the other day , try to find it real quick

Bet thats the only sammich to mongoose segue in VN history. Some call it madness, others genius. I just call it " Monday."

Go VOLS

From my Okinawa days I saw stuffed displays of a mongoose killing a habu - poisonous and aggressive black snake. Incidentally that's how the SR-71 got the nickname "Habu". SR-71s flew out of Kadena AFB on Okinawa in the late 60s and 70s - fascinating to see even when they were on the ground. A few years ago in Africa it was surprising to watch a bunch of mongooses playing like kittens, but then there were warthogs grazing on the lawn and keeping it mowed - so you never know about these things. I like cats, and really wanted to reach out and pet this one as she strolled by, but common sense prevailed.

It's wild to me to see people still panhandling in our current economic climate. We contacted no less than ten different maintenance companies about maintaining the common areas in our neighborhood. Most of them either never called us back or said they didn't have time/men. A couple gave us quotes in the $250/hr range. For that much I'll have the HOA trick me out in Stihl and I'll go do it myself for $150. We finally landed on one and he's got his kids out there helping and they can't be more than 10. Manpower is at such a low, every business with a sign says help wanted. But there's still able bodied guys laying around Walmart with "anything helps" signs. If you're going to melt in the sun at least get someone to pay you to do it. Or get any number of service jobs that keep you in the AC all day. At this point there really is no excuse.

Interesting thing I found (actually my son discovered it and took me) there is a place called Big Orange in Rogers, AR - a little north of Fayetteville (Univ of Arkansas). Best burgers - and a really different lineup, but weird that something like Big Orange would be somewhere not in Tennessee. Saw an article the other day about the best burgers in every state - they found Big Orange, too. For TN it was some place in Memphis I've never heard of.
