Gun control debate (merged)

That’s fine.

But you do accept that no matter what is banned, something will inherit “most deadly” on the market?

By that logic let people have bazookas because eventually they would have sling shots. And then they would be most deadly and look how ridiculous that is, so get on ebay and Amazon and splurge on that bazooka today.

I am skeptical of this deal. It's weak. Not much to it, really. Feels like the NRA and GOP are setting it up to fail so next shooting they can say, see? Doesn't work.

Avoid real reform.

I think the Dems should have held out for real reform. Hang the failure to do anything meaningful around the GOPs next. Make them own their inaction.

Real reform is about fixing the people. Which you clowns don't want to admit. Real reform is admitting that most mass shootings aren't schools etc.. It's gang violence and let's address that. But you clowns have no interest in that either bc it requires admitting uncomfortable hard truths.

The Dems needed a win of any kind , in case you haven’t been watching , that win column for political clout in the mid terms has spider webs in it . The gun grabbers are in no political position to be making demands and the 2a is a losing topic for all democratic hopefuls leading up to an election . It’s like the economy . These are just historical facts . I think you are extremely lucky to get anything .

It goes without saying.
It's just I would prefer that the most deadly thing available on the market not be a nuclear warhead capable of wiping out half of humanity or a vial of highly contagious and deadly baboon virus.

In the same vein, I would prefer guns to be less deadly.

Fixing people? lol.....we've been trying to fix people since Cain killed Able.

So right now the AR platform is viewed as the most deadly thing on the market.

(That’s not true, but I think we can agree that’s the one many want gone)

That doesn't seem rational or reasonable. I like using that as a filter.

I believe that the reasonable and rational part was the teaching that , it was the act itself that was the sin , not the use of the tool . I can’t find anywhere that god said men will be men, so I will restrict the tools they use against each other . Root causes and such

I take pride in my gun ignorance.......just wanted to preface my next comments.
It seems all ARs are not created equally. There's evidently something about caliber, velocity, type of bullet, etc.....
So maybe instead of banning all ARs, we just ban the ones that are most deadly.
Then people can still play Army Man and Rambo but the number of the more deadly are reduced.

Taking pride on ignorance of any subject is well ignorant AF. I am ignorant on many things but don't take pride in it. Side note: if you admit ignorance you should stfu with suggestions on the same topic.

Well that is true. All AR platforms are not created equal. It might be the single most customizable firearm in existence (hence its popularity).

We got derailed earlier, but I would have shared with you that what you were referencing was the round, not the rifle.

But that’s ok. Let’s keep it high level, at “assault weapon”.
What if we simply reinstated the ASW ban from ‘94?

The one that was proven a failure?

If this is such an important topic to you, wouldn't it make sense to learn as much as you can about it instead of just showing your ass (with a preface of course)?

Ponder for a moment engaging with someone that openly takes pride in ignorance of a topic they're willing to regulate for others. Bonus points for being so pathetic they can't discuss the most most ubiquitous centerfire platform in the country (for reasons mentioned over and over here) without having to invoke playing army man or Rambo.
