Gun control debate (merged)

I have no problem being concerned with both.

If they are marketed as mass killing machines (sure they are), it increases the odds that they will be used that way.
I have never once seen them marketed as killing machines. Not once. And I have been to more gun shows, gun stores, gun ranges, and spent more time in the "culture" than you.

You are just making media bs with this.

I won’t argue that if given the choice, some random 18 year old will probably reach for the AR before he reaches for the Glock - but it won’t increase his lethality in any meaningful way.
Yeah, I don't know. I've read that the velocity the bullet travels from an AR is much higher that most other guns and thus does far more damage. Again, I don't really know........it just seems like guys needing to compensate.

Which caliber bullet from the AR?
22LR?
REM 223?
556?
762/39?
300 BO?
308?
50BW?

And how does the AR cause the powder in the bullet to burn hotter and expand faster than in the Ruger ranch rifle?

Which caliber AR? 22LR, 5.56, 300 Blackout, 308, 9mm, 7mm, .223?

Edit: damn you @Orangeslice13

Oh boy, Here we go. That’s not how it works…

The others will be along shortly.

I think pretty much everyone recognizes that as a huge part of the problem.
That's why I support measures that would reduce the number of unwanted kids being born into that cycle (or any cycle).
That's why I support measures that would incentivize NOT having kids until you are emotionally and financially equipped to be a parent.
That's why I support measures that would reduce the number of able bodied people living off of government assistance.

Maybe instead of background checks and permissions to buy a gun we'd be better off doing background checks and giving permission to have kids? I agree with you that a lot of people should never have kids, but who would set the criteria for that. Imagine the uproar in telling people they don't have enough income or are too dependent on government handouts to have kids when just the mention of voting and financial responsibility causes a certain party to lose control over it's bodily functions. You are absolutely right in that there should be no government incentives of any kind to have kids, but that's not going to happen when one party is dependent on sustaining the plantation for votes.

You should have to be licensed to breed.

Yeah, we can all tell you “don’t know”. It’s painfully obvious how completely clueless you are on the subject.

And that is what needs to change - in a rational and reasonable way.

There is a rational and reasonable way. Quit voting for dems. Put them out of business and watch welfare go down the drain. If any pro welfare replacements come along, vote them out too. But we both know the real issue other than the bleeding hearts is that we allow people who depend on the government to vote for the people who give them the handouts. It's self perpetuating just like welfare.

Ah so the bullet goes scary fast huh? That sounds… dangerous.

You tell me oh sage of gun idiocy. Which bullet has more energy. A 40 gr bullet going 2000fps or 150 gr bullet going 1500 fps?

Also which bullet is likely to transfer the energy to the target on impact. A full metal jacketed scary military round or a soft/hollow point mushrooming hunting bullet which deforms on impact so as to more greatly resist penetration into the target?

America has transformed into a much more violent society. Blaming guns is often the go to scapegoat for politicians. Question is why do some Americans resort to violence when dealing with an issue? If gun laws become tighter, the violence problem still exists.

I vote first for Dr Spock (and his philosophical/intellectual kind) as a leading cause of increased violence. He's the fool who started telling people they weren't rearing kids properly which led to the end of corporal punishment by parents and teachers. Secondly, I vote for government as an enabler for standing by and allowing riots with looting and burning to go basically unpunished - there's a very distinct difference in peaceful protest with a message and rioting. Remove discipline and tolerate hate and violence, and you set the stage for all that happens next.

But to re-direct here - they make sub-sonic rounds that travel slower than the speed of sound.

That have a crazy large heavy bullet that packs a crazy wallop on impact too.

It’s almost like… cartridge designers understand physics and realize for a tiny round to develop any useful energy you have to get it moving crazy fast! 😳

I don’t think they’ll like sub-sonic rounds any better. Especially once they hear about what they can be paired with 😵

One of my favorite stupid appeals to authority is when the pull out the Medical Doctor and describe the horrible damage done by the crazy fast moving 5.56/.223 round or the lungs being blown out by the scary 9mm.

My first thought in reply is always the same. Damn good thing they didn’t get shot by the .30-06 180 gr soft point hunting bullet!

Regardless of what gets banned/regulated/confiscated - there will always be an implement that is the “most deadly” thing on the market.

Or literally ANY platform firing the same cartridge. There are 223 levers for instance.

Looth talking firearms is nearly as facepalm inducing as Biden discussing the economy.

I haven’t read past this post but I’m betting you are going to be biting the pillow on this one . Lol
