This'll probably get booted to the politics thread but for such strong opinions some seem to have with athletes accepting money from Saudi Arabian oligarchs I'm curious if there was similar outrage to this -

"After my heavily negotiated trip to Saudi Arabia last year, the Kingdom agreed to spend and invest $450 billion in the United States. This is a record amount of money. It will create hundreds of thousands of jobs, tremendous economic development, and much additional wealth for the United States. Of the $450 billion, $110 billion will be spent on the purchase of military equipment from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and many other great U.S. defense contractors."

Or that Jared Kushner's private firm accepted $2B in a Saudi investment.

I'm just glad other countries are paying us for our atrocities and not vice versa

The party favor was to provide military protection to Saudi Arabia and supply arms for their activities in Yemen. This was sanctioned by the US on grounds that Iranians were supporting terror cells there. At least we are outsourcing 🤷🏼‍♂️

This is why I'm not going to posture a moral high ground and oversimply a nuanced and very complicated moral dilemma. And I'm not going to cast a broad-brushed judgement on those who decide they need/want to take the money and play.

I watched the first 8-10 of these and there is one distinct difference…. In all of them before contact the runner moved to the inside part of the bag…. Right foot inside running and left foot on the foul line….. the college player was well inside fair territory at contact…. Ther is a second part of the play…. He was in fair territory with the pitcher trying to throw around…. It can be concluded that he caused the errant throw by running in fair territory….!Either way…. The rules state it’s a violation so I don’t know how anyone can argue it even if some umpires choose not to call it…. I teach my Little Leaguers to run in foul territory.

I think the difference you are talking is maybe 6 inches…I have watched the Maryland play multiple times. Ironically, by being on the line and maybe more inside, the Maryland runner actually gives the pitcher a better angle to throw outside the foul line. If the first baseman had come across the bag and taken the throw like some do from the catcher on a missed 3rd strike, it would have been much easier. If the runner had been any further out, it’s a tougher throw. I just don’t like that call on a bang-bang play. It’s not that egregious to me.

Edit: videos #2 and #4 definitely show runners inside the field of play.
