All Beck related discussions from last night (merged)

Have people lost perspective? In MLB or pro baseball, they don't flip birds at each other; they settle scores by throwing at batters, charging the mound and bench-clearing brawls happen. I know of no instances where this has happened in college baseball. In fact, last night was the first time I have ever seen someone throw at at batter intentionally in a college game and it was a pitcher for Campbell after he was homered on by Drew Gilbert. I say have a talk with Jordan Beck and then move on. This is a tempest in a teapot.
really? Pat Burrell didn't flip off Terry Francona? Canseco didn't either? How about Kerry Wood flipping off the batter....Black Jack flipping off the crowd. Is it a good look? Obviously no, but in the heat of competition combined with how todays kids have morestuff in their face at an early age...what do you expdct?

LOL. Take away this teams edge and emotion. No shot

I doubt that would happen. I`m sure over the years many individual players and even teams have gotten a tongue-lashing and have became better players/teams for it. I don`t think not flipping birds or bat`s would make a negative impact on a player. JMO

Is everyone, including our own fans, looking for a reason to hate this team? Emotion is going to happen. Let these guys play and don't critique everything
No, but everyone here is looking for a "woe is me, why does everyone hate us" feeling and then proceed to completely dismiss trashy behavior such as this. Can't have it both ways.

If you’re embarrassed by this team, I feel sorry for you. These guys play with guts, passion, and have fun. It’s literally just a hand gesture. And you have no idea if Georgia Tech players did anything to warrant Beck being upset and making the gesture.

I have never seen so many people upset about flipping the bird. It’s really not that serious.
So our team can't behave better than others? Got it.

You don't intentionally hit someone with an offspeed pitch, like that Campbell pitch was. If you are going to hit a guy intentionally, it's a fastball.

Or......
You could use the curve, which you haven't missed with by more than 6 inches all night, bean the guy, give him a bruise, make your point, and cry....

But it was a curve!

Honestly, if anyones watched half of the games this season, this isn’t a surprise. This is an emotional team lead by an equally emotional coach. I’m sure he’ll get a talking to and that’s it.

But acting like this is something to be embarrassed about or trying to act like he’s a bad person is over the top.
I have not seen anyone say Beck is bad or insinuate that. What has been said is he is better than that. And yes when the stars on your team make the front page with a middle finger up thats not really part of the game. Beck is a great player, personally he is one of my favorite players on this team. However that display really wasn't called for. So yeah, all those little guys surrounding him for an autograph, set an example. GBO let's get ready for ND Supers

Tell me you've never played without saying you never played...

Like I said, I can see both sides, if I was on the losing side, I’d look at mine and say if ya don’t like it, don’t get in this position.

I will say this. Don’t bring the rain. Pressure is pressure and it will Mount. No reason to add to it by bringing the rain.
Not sure how we could have any more pressure. Our whole team has been basically accused of ped use by fanbases whose only proof is getting their asses kicked by the vols. Then Evan is slandered specifically. I don't advocate flipping off opponents during games but it happened and it's no big deal IMO. I'm sure the haters will act like Beck punched a baby.

Flame me if you choose, but I don’t get the hate for the bat flips and the bird and etc. The game is always gonna change. I love baseball and everything about it. Big game situation last night and Beck was feeling himself, so what. I believe Stone Cold Steve Austin said it best “if you want mercy, take your ass to church”

the time will come when you will be called "OUT" if you release your bat after hitting the ball and it swaps ends in the air! And that will be a good rule! I've been watching baseball a long time, and this is just a new classless fad! But it will be halted!

The bat flip is the equivalent of an endzone dance, nothing wrong with it.
