Gun control debate (merged)

The Assault Weapons Ban of 2021:

  • Bans the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of 205 military-style assault weapons by name. Owners may keep existing weapons.
  • Bans any assault weapon with a magazine that is not a fixed ammunition magazine and has one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock

Oh MY F@&king God…. It has a PISTOL GRIP!!!! Run for your lives.

False. Nearly every modern democracy (UK, Canada, Norway, France, Sweden, etc.) has respected the rights of their citizenry and not become tyrants trampling their citizens' rights. Their citizens don't have a gazillion guns. There is no basis to say that it is the presence of privately-held guns that keeps a government in check.

You obviously don’t know anyone personally who lives in any of those places.

Imagine thinking military conscription, vaccine passports, limited speech, high taxes, etc. are hallmarks of a respectful government.

See, impossible to get you to engage and make an argument. That's why I typically retreat to sh*tposting. No one actually wants to consider the basis of their own beliefs.

I have stated unequivocally what my position is and argued my position constantly based on facts not emotions . You and many take the opposite approach using emotion and refuse to start at the same starting line as 2a supports do , it all starts with we have a right that you are trying to take away . You can’t skip that part . It’s the same as any right . Imagine the government saying , I know you have a right to freedom of assembly to protest us but, we’ve decided it’s just too dangerous for society for all you to do that any longer , from now on we will decide who gets to assemble based on our background checks , your mental health , our opinions of you , and anyone that we do allow we are going to put a horrifically high tax on you in the form of a permit . This should keep the undesirable people from being able to assemble frivolously , because nobody needs to protest us more than once .

I have an AR 10. I have a 30cal can. It is as quiet as my crossbow. Have to use subsonic ammo. Problem is it turns your semi into a bolt action. It won't cycle the bolt with subsonic rounds.
Not enough pressure to cycle it with the subsonic rounds?

Correct. I've thought about playing with the buffer and spring but I think it's an exercise in futility. I have a 300BO that cycles subsonic beautifully so you'd think you could do it but everything I've read online says it won't work. It is very quiet though, quieter than the 300. Much of the sound comes from the cycling of the bolt so when the bt doesn't cycle its exceptionally quiet. The 300sbr suppressed is really fun to shoot steel with. No ear protection required. Still around 120 decibels though.

I thought the Weimar government's claim to fame was monumental ineptitude under the yoke of Versailles. Do not recall reading much about it committing genocide unless you are referring to the post-Nazi takeover. Have I missed something?
No you got it.
They handed power over willingly to the Nazis. The similarities between then and the thought process of our current government is down right frightening

Asking our government to protect us from ourselves, whilst also defunding police...just an incredible argument from a lawful issue, as much the macro authoritarian issues we face.

BTW...how was the Christopher Cross trip?

The current wave of violence is the direct fault of the soft on crime crowd. No doubt about it.

we got closer to the Statue of Liberty that the coastguard would permit. Ask me how I know 128B3C30-FFDA-4764-AAA1-AB64D0ADB655.jpeg

So security around the Statue of Liberty is every bit as poor as security everywhere else in the U.S. I guess we should just all be thankful that it was a patriotic conservative getting an up close view rather than one of the many terrorists that have walked across our southern border over the last 16 months.
