War in Ukraine

But that’s not gonna happen. You know and I know our idiot in charge will continue to announce our money going to poor little Ukraine. So we will continue to see Biden blame everything on Russia and try and justify sending that corrupt country billions of our dollars. It’s pathetic.
I still don't understand why people are not looking further down the road and realizing that the US/The West crossing the Rubicon and seizing assets only plants a seed in the mind of potential future investors. Why would any foreign investors risk having their assets seized if they don't agree with the West or go against their wishes? Canada got it started on the guys in the trucker protests, then The entire Western world did it with Russian oligarchs and other Russian asset holders.

This dirty whore is weakening the hell out of Russia abs growing NATO which we need in the event we go against China.

Just my opinion.
You sure about that? Or are we delaying the inevitable? All the se weapons and aid packages do is delay the outcome, but doesn't change the outcome. Meanwhile, we drag this out to the very last drop of Ukrainian blood.

"Just accept that this is happening to you." I'm sure you're very concerned about the Ukranian casualties.

Russia did not expect a suicidal level of stupidity from Ukraine/Western interests.
Now this is the understatement of the entire conflict so far. The West is acting like an emotional group of Karens or kindergarten girls that didn't get their way.

Does anyone believe these issues will not be worked out?

5 hr 23 min agoTurkish official holds calls with Swedish and Finnish counterparts on NATO membership applications
From Isil Sariyuce in Istanbul
Ibrahim Kalin, the spokesperson for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, held phone calls with his counterparts from Sweden and Finland as well as Germany, the US and the UK to discuss NATO membership applications of Sweden and Finland, among other topics.
“In the context of Sweden and Finland's membership applications to NATO, the expectation that concrete steps will be taken to address Turkey's national security concerns was communicated. It was underlined that if Turkey's expectations were not met, the progress of the process would not be possible,” according to a readout of the meeting.
“During the meetings, it was also emphasized that it is unacceptable to allow the terrorist organization PKK/PYD/YPG and FETO members to exist in NATO members and other countries. It was stated that there should be no discrimination between terrorist organizations and that all forms of terrorism should be fought in a spirit of unity and solidarity,” the readout added.
Erdogan has accused the two countries of harboring members of the separatist militant Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, and supporters of US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom Turkey accuses of masterminding a 2016 coup attempt, which Gulen denies. The PKK has been designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. Erdogan also said Sweden did not extradite 30 people whom Turkey sees linked to terrorism.
According to the readout, the reversal of defense export bans and of sanctions against Turkey were also addressed.
Earlier on Wednesday, Erdogan told his party's members of parliament in Ankara that he expects NATO member countries to “understand” Turkey’s security issues.

Turkey is playing the extortion game. Pretty typical for that part of the world. NATO should either kick them to the curb or make them an auxiliary member without voting rights. The last time I looked Turkey, unlike Sweden and Finland, is nowhere near the North Atlantic.

They didn't have the numbers. Not near enough to take a city the size of Kiev.
Go back to the first few weeks of this conflict... these guys were licking their chops about that 40 mile long Russian convoy and were laughing about how big of a sitting duck they were for the Ukrainians/Ghost of Kiev/NATO air support.

I haven't heard a single word about that since. What happened?

Many cannot see the Forrest because of the trees. This situation is just like the Trump situation. Red man bad so whatever needs to be done to stop him has to be done. Doesn’t matter what happens to the economy or our futures. The only thing that matters is Russia bad. I think it’s pathetic to see so many in here supporting the G7 nations enforcing their will wherever and whenever they like.

They are no better than the IRS or Federal Reserve. I don’t support Russia or Ukraine. In my opinion this is their problem and not ours. We all know that Putin wasn’t going to go on this rule the world conquest. But the mouth breathers want people to believe he will. So they have been duped into believing these sanctions are a good thing. I am sure those same ones would be saying they were good if they were happening to us.

Yeah I am sure that’s what our government really cares about. Not that Ukraine is a mineral rich nation. Or that it offers big pharma safe havens where top secretive bio labs can operate without regulation.

Yeah we care about the poor Ukrainian citizens. Give me a break.

I didn't say a word about our government.

Anyone have the most recent count of how long it's been since our top level State Dept people have initiated discussions with Russian counterparts for peace talks?

Oh I forgot, we love a proxy war to bring Russia to it's knees and so what if "short term consequences" happen.

meh and I see someone biatching about the spending on this supporting someone who wanted to spend more then everyone else on Covid relief. Almost 20 times as much as this costs. More then the Dems. Your concern for spending is bull. You are throwing a bigger fit on this then you did Covid spending. Stop with the faux "I care about the deficit." You don't.
