Russia did have a continuing military and economic alliance with Cuba. We just said they weren't going to make Cuba a launch pad for firing missiles at us. I hope we have enough common sense to tell the Chinese the same thing when the time comes.

It is not our fight. Like I say, go Ukraine! Hope you win. But it is NOT something to start a World War over. Support Ukraine with weapons sales, humanitarian aid, and high level intelligence all day. But when you start providing actual targeting assistance, you are on shaky ground. At the very least, you never BRAG about it. Jeeez

Administration is run by idiots. You either don’t provide that level of intelligence or if you do provide it you darn well keep it a secret. The absolute worst thing you can do is to take that step and then to run to the NYT to flap your gums about it

The only secrets in DC are the ones about politicians and bribes - the specifics - the proof. We all know it exists; we just don't have the facts, and the bureaucracy isn't interested in looking either. This is where both sides of the aisle are united and lips are sealed.

You're thinking SEATO. It's more of an administrative organization. They will throw a big joint maneuver every 5 years to make themselves feel good. Our demands for actual support during Vietnam hurt the organization.

We've ignored Southeast Asia for years and now we're realizing that the Chinese were filing the vacuum. Massive economic ties between Vietnam and Malaysia now. They're starting to feel a little concern now that they're learning what it means to be economically dependent on China. We can be a little clumsy in throwing our weight around our allies but China is downright dictatorial.

Only 41% of the population of Russia is Russian Orthodox... The majority of the country is a mix of non-Christian denominations, with Islam being one of the slightly larger minor religions.
