Dealership open on Saturdays? Never knew. I get all my work done at the dealership...well except tires. Gwinnett Honda quoted me some but I decided to save a little money.. I mean how hard is it to replace tires....ugggh.
My thing is the dealership, at least should, know the vehicles. They caught an issue I was having early on, after other shops missed it. So even though its pricey I take my car to them for most things.

One should find sagacious technicians for makes and models served by that dealer.

Hey guys. My daughter found this site...pretty much any book on planet Earth you would ever want to read.

For FREE. Even some audio books. Blew my mind, have shared it with those folks i like this morning, which includes you.

Save this link.

Electronic library. Download books free. Finding books

I really hated it when Elsevier, the fascist, monopolistic textbook company shut down my favorite Russian book site. It was a good place to hunt down books you couldn't find in OverDrive libraries or anywhere else. Project Gutenberg has a lot of books old enough to be in the public domain. Local libraries and schools are often affiliated with OverDrive, and military and military retirees can log into OverDrive through the DOD portal - you check out ebooks like you would a library book.

I ordered my last tires from Tire Rack and had them drop shipped to Pep Boys for mounting. It all went well except the new tire pressure sensors still aren't registering with my car's TPM system. Mostly my fault for not having been back again; they did reprogram it a second time. The sensors are working and are compatible with the system - one forum said something about having to play with the sensor ID - like dropping the two leading digits when reprogramming the car. Gotta love technology - remember you heard that from an engineer, too. I'm just picky about tires - decide what I want and then where to find them. Tire Rack has excellent tire tests and comparisons - and lots of reviews, but always look for the ones with like 20K miles or so before the review because all tires seem great when new.

Medical 'science' is never 'settled'. My dad was once told that he was ineligible for cochlear implants. Several years later... he got 'm. The coolest thing about that was that he discovered Jimi Hendrix.

I keep reading about the new methods to regrow the hair receptors in the cochlea. Apparently I'll be dead long before the new technology makes it into production. On the other hand my second aortic valve replacement didn't require cracking my chest open again - so who knows.

I've been watching this like a hawk as well. Fragile Cilia Disorder is what is causing the hearing loss in my wife and daughter, and these shots could give them a much better (and less expensive) life.

Funny enough my TPS light came on just a few miles away. Checked pressures and recalibrated TPS. Hopefully it works, cause this has been a PIA. Not sure if I have driven enough miles yet.
That bead noise on my old Continentals is gone now with Michelins.

Yep. We seem to be a lot further along with vision problems than hearing problems - both in what works and in cost. A lot of us have good low frequency hearing, but higher frequencies are just gone. It's like being nearsighted and not being able to see the sharp edges, so you can't hear what I call the edges - just blurry hearing. Like adding up the harmonics that define a square wave except the higher harmonics are gone so you just get a little modified fundamental sine wave - not good enough for understanding words and sounds. I know with your background in music; you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I remember that now - your Honda rims and Continental tires not being a match made in heaven. I just got Continental DWS 06 Plus tires, and so far so good. The fit at the rim looks different from the Coopers I took off - like Continental designs a little differently. If there's any bead to rim noise, I can't hear it, and so far the road noise is a lot better than the old tires.

I'm sitting here listening to my ears emit a constant high-pitched squeal that never stops. I've heard that the frequency that I hear all the time is the frequency that I can't hear in life anymore.

Me, too. By the way tinnitus isn't just single frequencies. One day you might think you are out on a summer night listening to a harmony of frogs, locusts, and crickets. Like you, today it's just a squeal.

In retrospect, The Continentals were a better tire in handling, rain and road noise. They were a sportier 45K mile tire to the newer 55K Michelins, but even with wear I had not felt the slight hydroplaning I get with the new Michelins. They were priced about the same as well and I like performance over mileage, to an extent.

I always key in first on wet handling and braking because that's where a lot of problems on the road start. Usually I then gravitate to dry braking, noise, and ride because most of us don't really go to the limits on dry cornering etc. I definitely agree on performance because in an emergency, that just might be the deciding factor on what keeps you from an accident.

Man...wet handling is key. Just think about the traffic around you on substandard tires. I have had tires in my younger day where it was a glide trip in heavy rainfall and terrifying.

I've gotten some good deals on TR. There used to be a site "Best Used Tired dot com" which had fantastic prices on slightly used tires. Now they only sell new.

So son and wife are in their way back from FL and had a blow out on the trailer they’re pulling. Anyone want to guess who’s fault it is?

Oh, I know that one. If you'd been on top of things and been doing preventive maintenance like you were supposed to, it never would have happened. Somehow we are supposed to pull down walls periodically to inspect pipes, so a pinhole leak could never develop from the inside of the pipe ... and without making a mess or disrupting routines.
