War in Ukraine

??? Seizing what assets?
Ras surely you can acknowledge that the Russians not allowing foreigners to sell their investments is bad. It is a big deal. Just like yachts shouldn’t be seized from Russians. It goes both ways. Both will most likely get to control their respective assets some time in the future, albeit a little worse for the wear, but doesn’t mean either is right or justified.

So is that theft and seizure or is that them not being able to sell (at the moment)?

And again, that was in response to all of the actions that the West put on Russia. I'm sure that once all of this settles and/or if the West returns its foreign reserves (not likely to happen), that you may see that happen further down the road.

Volgr, as a typical russian plant, doesnt understand the concept of a Pyrrhic victory, if you can even call what Russia is doing that. The Russian military is like a barrel full of monkeys trying to f##k a football.

Is Ukraine taking a beating? Of course. Is Russia taking the worst beating in the majority of their countries current lives? Absolutely and as you said its unsustainable.

Amen, brother.

Russia has been revealed. Their military sucks donkeys.

@volgr's husband was on the Moskva that got sunkified.

Right, that is the only thing you can repeat at this point...because we are involved in every other way possible, EXCEPT ordered boots on the ground. The dishonesty and justification by most of the Ukr supporters in this thread is laughable.
Ukraine supporters? Or people who just don’t agree with Russia’s invasion of a sovereign country? If Ukraine or China invaded Russia, I’d have the same opinion that it was unjustified and wrong

WTF are you talking about? The bet was if Poland would invade Ukraine.

Oh I thought we were talking economy/Ruble rebound. No Poland isn’t going to invade Ukraine. And if Poland combat troops do wind up there they are likely to be fighting Russia not Ukraine. So I’d take that bet but I absolutely believe you would twist any Polish military presence in Ukraine as an invasion just as you’ve continually misrepresented everything else here. However regardless of why Polish troops would be in Ukraine if that happens we are on the cusp of nuclear war

Now this is a weird statement coming from you? I thought you were a bit more measured and reasonable than this. Do you have a link to the Indians doing what you claim? And you are really talking about this tractor stuff now? Really?

It will be a slow transition from Russian equipment if it happens, and it probably still depends on how easily India can get cheaper Russian equipment. However, here are some articles to consider on development of newer aircraft. One obstacle is detailed in the article about pilots moving from Russian technology to western technology. There are other good articles that describe the same issue. Flying may be flying, but using the weapons systems and tactics are another issue. Poland is apparently facing the issue currently. The big thing for India will likely be "bang for the buck" and the Russians are selling weapons cheap - and that's what India needs. The bad part of that is that China and India are not on good terms, and China knows all about Russian hardware - strengths and weaknesses to exploit. Better to fight an enemy with something he doesn't know and exploit the difference. Some of the Indian military change is driven by the inability of Russia to deliver now - that may be short term.

The reference to the tanks is something that's been discussed here - survivability - that others design tanks to protect the crews, but Russian tanks are rolling coffins waiting for an incoming projectile. Iraq didn't fare well with Soviet/Russian tanks either. Russian crews have to be getting leery about being cooped up in rolling coffins.

One other thing - a personal doubt. I still question our strategy of fewer extremely expensive and complex (and less reliable) military equipment yet to be tested on remote battlefields vs less expensive and less complex (more reliable) equipment in greater numbers. Sometimes it really comes down to critical mass or "getting there the firstest with the mostest". I guess we'll find out one day, and I hope our planners got it right.

Have any yachts or villas been sold? Are any for sale? Has asset ownership changed from Russian citizens to foreign governments? Or are these assets frozen?

If foreigners sell at a loss compared to what they could have sold their assets at when Russian nationals were able to access their domestic markets, then I would consider what Russia has done as theft and seizure. If not, I would say it’s an inconvenience like not being able to use your yacht.

If you like, we can call it a special military operation or a humanitarian operation. Whatever floats you boat.

I do wonder about your assertion that the Poles would likely be fighting the Russians rather than the Ukrainians, though. Would the Ukrainians see the Poles as liberators in Western Ukraine or landgrabbers?

I have no idea how to even speculate why they would be there thus just feeding your silly ass theory doesn’t really seem worthwhile.

Yeah... "if". I wonder how many that are owners right now are thinking of that being a possibility right now, though? Volumes are down but revenues are up. Russia likely did them a favor.

It wasn’t in WWII and most of the of the Japanese Americans impacted didnt even do anything indicating support for Japan.
So this was correct? I mean, the US isn't some backwater country like Russia. Neither are the Ukrainians. We are freedom loving people that have set ourselves apart from the tyrants. Should that ever be going on in this country or Ukraine?

Of course not but it has no bearing on the false justification for the Russian aggression.
