The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

I don’t think you can argue that you want a lower pick because some first QBs haven’t worked. It’s obviously better to have your pick of the litter even if others have missed before you

That doesn’t make tanking a good idea or a particularly successful strategy

Agree, there are still some very good receivers to be had in the 3rd and 4th. Get the best value.
Honestly think we are going to take Malik Willis, let him sit this year, and let RT walk after this season. And I think that's the smart thing to do. Who knows, maybe RT gets injured and Willis comes in and never goes back out.

That's my guess.......but Tennessee better get someone on the OLine. Quickly.

Bud Dupree’s cap hit was 19.2m. One of my biggest reasons for criticizing the move (other than the fact that he’s overrated) has been the need to lock up Simmons and Brown to long term deals.

JRob needs to go.

Yep - no Dupree and they extend Brown while drafting Jermaine Johnson last night.

love the burks pick, but not sure it was necessary to trade up for him. i mean, trading 26 for more picks looks good now since there's still 2 legit Qbs on the board, but if they don't go QB at 35 then jon robinson is officially on the hot seat.

seems to me that we're backed into a corner with tannehill and the window is quickly closing with henry.

all that to say: wtf

I think if we draft a QB it will be Ridder or Coral.

They are stupid to draft a QB. They committed to RT, still having a 18 mil cap hit the next season just to cut him would he stupid. Just gotta put the pieces around him.

Who’s playing corner? Who’s on the offensive line? Who do we throw the ball to?

This isn’t a good team.
Corner will be Fulton, Farley, Jackson
O line is fine beside LG and that can be shored up in the draft.
NWI was coming along last year, Robert Woods is a Solis veteran and hopefully Burks plays like a first round pick.
We still have Henry.
The defensive front 7 is still going to be nasty.
Take a breath and quit acting like the sky is falling.

Robinson isn’t going to be on the hot seat after a 12 win season. Come on.

Lost in all this is that Burks is a good player and who I wanted at 26 the whole time anyway. Dude's a stud. JRob is an absolute madman, and I don't like defending him because I think for the most part he is very overrated as a GM. With that said, AJB didn't deserve 25M and was acting pretty immature and petty. I think Willis is worth the dart throw at 35. If you want to avoid a massive rebuild, he's your shot at a transition. You would still have two 3rd round picks to address OL and something else (another WR, complementary RB, TE?). Plus 6 more picks to maneuver, although I'm sure JRob will make multiple moves because he can't help himself and turn it all into a complete waste.

We are in a weird spot. Good enough to win a crap division, but not good enough to win a Super Bowl. I like rolling the dice on Willis. The payoff is worth the cost. We've wasted plenty of picks in this range already with much lower potential.

We didn't trade up to get him. We traded AJB and got the Eagles pick and a 3rd rounder.

If you're looking at this from a business perspective the message is with the wr market artificially inflated thanks to Jacksonville a run first offense can't and shouldn't pay top three wr money. What AJ was asking for would bog this team down into a salary cap hell. It is what it is. We got the closest thing to him in the draft. And turned that into more picks which this team needs desperately, we made some really bad decisions in the draft the last few years which has killed is in depth.

Im not saying it was a bad move, good move, etc but it did signal to me that the Titans are willing to pull back alittle (few rookie WRs make huge splashes their first year) to rebuild after last year's failure. I think its obvious to Robinson/Vrabel that they dont have the QB capable of winning it all and why spend yourself into salary cap hell trying to build around him. Wait until you can identify another Qb to move forward with. JMO

Fulton is a good second corner. Farley is unproven. We have no right tackle. Our center and LT are around 100 years old.

I’ll take the under on 9.5 wins
