The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Exactly this team won’t win a super bowl trading Henry would suck but right now he has value

Not really, unfortunately. With the way NFL offenses scheme and orient now, there's not as huge a demand or desire for RB. The team would probably get offered something like a 5th round pick, maybe a 4th.

And if he sits out? They get nothing for him basically.

They made him an offer, he responded by cutting the team off completely (or perhaps in the other order), and they cut bait.

Ok, but let's be fair on that part: we see that claim alot from players, especially with contract-related matter. How many have we actually seen go through with it - willingly missing an entire season and willingly passing on the entirety of their income/salary for that year?

Didn’t work out for Le’Veon Bell.

$25M/year is a lot of money for a receiver. Titans supposedly offered $20M/year. That’s a $20M difference over the lifespan of the contract. They knew they couldn’t resign him at that price so they did what they thought was best. The Burks kid from Arkansas is essentially an AJ Brown clone. The kid can ball and I think he will play well. Wish we could’ve held onto Brown because he is explosive but that’s just way too much money for a WR imo.

Sure. You get 1 more season with a guy who doesn’t plan to be there and likely is trying to just not get injured so someone (Philly) can make him a top 4 salary WR. With no tangible return. I’m not happy he’s gone, but I get it. He was gone either way. This way they get return on their terms.

Could have made Brown hold out or play and then franchised him the next two seasons. Nobody’s gonna sit out three seasons. I think they did AJ a favor so he could get paid. Titans hands are tied by Tannehill’s deal, which would not be an issue if he hadn’t restructured to let them go after Julio. Probably should try to deal Henry but he’s the face of the franchise and they need him to sell some tickets. If a lot of dominoes fall the right way, the window for a deep playoff run may be open for one more season. Hopefully, Titans make the most of 2022 before the rebuild statts.

This kid isn't AJ, but the Titans/Jon Robinson just shut the window to get a ring even more than it was after last seasons 1st rd debacle.

They can't wait around a couple of years for this guy to produce after trading your #1 receiver and the guy you brought in to be your #2 is going into his 10th season and is coming off a torn ACL.
