That pitch was below his knees. Hell of a job of hitting.
In that situation you are suppose to throw it where they don’t have a chance of hitting it and make the batter chase. I learned that in middle school. Poor execution by the pitcher and Trey made him pay.

I guess when you’re stacked 1 through 9, have 4 aces on the mound and a platoon of steady arms in the pen, you can afford to be slightly above average on the defensive end.
Gilbert and Beck are studs in the OF, Luc is usually money at 1st, Trey is solid at 3rd and Ortega seems to be coming around.
I think we’ll be ok.
GBO!!
I would say we are average in the field. There have been some great individual plays in the field this season but we do have 14 errors in 16 games. Pitching and hitting are elite but we are 8th in fielding % in SEC games. All the SEC teams combined are .975% and we are at .976%. The pitching and hitting more than makes up for the errors but it is a slight concern come postseason whenever the games are tighter.

Batting averages are one thing, but that combined with base on balls, total runs scored, Slugging %, and OBP tell a more complete story.
Everyone has their preferences on their favorite stats and for me personally I like to look at slugging % as one of the best indicator of how your offense performs. I love all the stats you mentioned but if I had to pick one, it would be slugging % because it shows that you have an explosive offense and you can have a breakout inning at any point in the game.

If this closer for LSU doesn’t make it in baseball, he definitely has a career in WWE, waiting for him.
GBO!!
