I’m pretty sure a lot of the baseball/softball programming is set at the beginning of the season, and it appears that they spread it around.

Shame...missing a hell of a chance to grow the sport with this team.

I listened to one of the Vols podcasts a couple weeks ago that said they didn’t think Robinson, William Parker, or RJ Perry would ever play in the two deep…. Kind of depressing.

I always hate it when fans or media people say stuff like that. If a head coach thinks a kid is wasting their time and the team's roster space, he can say that to the player in private. Otherwise he'd probably prefer outsiders keep their uninformed opinions to themselves. A knowledgeable 2nd or 3rd team upperclassman can be invaluable when attrition hits.

In the era of the transfer portal, this is a favored technique of message board trolls too; continually insisting that players down the depth chart will never get their shot and might as well look for greener pastures.

For some of these guys it might be less about talent and more about fit. None of the OL talked about were recruited by the current staff, who run a very different scheme.

Sad update:

Mom developed a fever yesterday and despite treatment she succumbed to acidosis early this morning. We were there with her offering the comfort we could. Today when I get off work she will be buried next to the pasture where her daughter will live out her days and within sight of the pasture her son will live out his.

The two babies are doing well. We are heartbroken but focusing on them and getting them through the next 5 to 10 days and on path to a healthy life is the goal. Going to have a stiff drink or two this evening and get some rest.
