How do you know it wasn't the same situation...demands being the situation? Verse or Neyor or Agude very well could have said, "we want a million" or "seven fifty", or, "we want to start, no questions asked", or, "we want gauranteed this amount of snaps"; and, we said no thanks, too much. Exact same situation. Kasper asked for 1.5 million...we said, too much. Not the same situation. You're also forgetting Spyre, though around, was not as established when we were going after Verse and Neyor as it is now. That was pre-club.
So every recruit, portal or otherwise, that we miss on going forward is because "we didn't really want them that bad". Got it.How do you know it wasn't the same situation...demands being the situation? Now, I'm not saying that happened; but, I'm also not saying it didn't.
In the world of NIL I think that is literally going to be true.So every recruit, portal or otherwise, that we miss on going forward is because "we didn't really want them that bad". Got it.

When players sign in free agency in the NFL for some dollar amount, it is a fact that 31 other teams didn't want them bad enough to pay that dollar amount or higher.
That is even more true with no salary cap.
Yeah that's pretty much a fact. Money is the biggest factor with top recruits. I don't have any issue saying that because money has proven time and again to be the biggest factor with pro athletes in free agency. That’s a fact? So nothing else factors into free agency besides money? I hope you aren’t serious. And no if we miss on a recruit it’s not because we didn’t want them bad enough. That MIGHT be the case with some but not all. Regardless what some might want to think it’s not all about money.

Money is also the only factor that is scalable. With no salary cap, theoretically infinetly scalable.
We offer the same NIL money to a recruit as Oregon. He likes Oregon’s coaches better. Fine, double it. Not enough? Triple it. Why can't you stack money to drown out whatever other hypothetical factors you can think of? Of course you can. At that point, saying you aren't willing to pay more is no different than saying you don't want them past a certain number on a check.
The illusion of players having some hypothetical bond with a school they have been to twice or a city they have never lived in... I think that's fairy tale land. Maybe it always has been. But now... Sheesh. I'd revert back to believing in Santa Claus before I believe Nico's NIL deal was just one factor in many as to why he's coming here.
