From Athletic article that has reviewed a decent amount of NIL contracts now.
looks like the market is settling in.

“Five-star quarterbacks: They’re getting $2 million a year. The next-most sought after players are D-linemen, edge rushers; they’re getting seven figures over 4 years. The next is a stud offensive lineman with quick feet — they’re in the high six figures over 4. Everyone else is a hodgepodge, but in the six-figure range.”
But…chaos?

Big Ten schools are rumored to receive more than 100 million per year from the new TV deal they are negotiating. For reference, each SEC school is expected to receive about 40 million per year from their TV deal, starting in 2024 and ending in 2034. SEC's TV deal is worth 300 million per year. Big Ten's is expected to be 1+ billion per year. A huge advantage for Big Ten schools.

For all the NIL talk, it’s interesting that the top two teams have allegedly sworn off NIL sales pitches. “Allegedly” may be doing a lot of work in that sentence, but still.

Arkansas's top 3 commits all TE's...weird. Also Texas Tech is number 1 on 247, Louisville number 7. Early rankings are strange.

The Athletic just did an article talking about it. It seems there's a lot more to it than just the basic tv deal. There's playoff tv dollars and our conference expansion will boost figures quite a bit. Going to a larger playoff is one assumption.

These are their projections fwiw

YESSUH! Boom!

The four-star Class of 2023 edge rusher from Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., announced Tuesday that he has committed to Tennessee, choosing the Vols over Georgia and scholarship offers from more than 30 other schools. Miami and Southern Cal were among the other teams in the running for Herring, the No. 1 junior from the state of Tennessee.

Herring, who’s also a top-100 prospect nationally, gave the Vols their eighth commitment for the 2023 class and their first from a projected edge rusher. Tennessee now has five in-state commitments, three of whom have joined the Vols’ class within the past nine days.

“You can do a lot of things with him on the field,” Kriesky said of Herring, who’s ranked by 247Sports as the No. 50 overall prospect and No. 6 edge rusher in the 2023 class. “He can come off the edge, or he can play a little bit in space if he needs to. His range is so long and he’s developed.

“He kind of grew so fast, it took him awhile to figure out how to use his body. And he’s really, really now learned how to use his body, so he’s able to be more dominant.”

Tennessee kept its recruiting momentum rolling this month with another in-state commitment, this one from one of its long-time top targets. Edge defender Caleb Herring, a top-50 national prospect and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee, announced his commitment to the Vols on Tuesday, becoming the third in-state player to join their 2023 class in the span of a little more than a week. Landing a four-star in Herring saw Tennessee continue to rise in the 247Sports recruiting rankings, where the Vols now sit at No. 8.
