I’m not suggesting one. I’m pointing out the fact that capitalism isn’t the deterrent to authoritarianism that we all believed it was for a long time. It’s takes more than that to have a free society. Look at China and more recently Russia. Look at the former colonial states that are flush with capitalism and have still been plunged into authoritarianism. Maybe capitalism is an ingredient, but it certainly isn’t a cure.
The poster I responded to said it was.Who said it was? That was my point earlier today regarding China. In fact, this quasi corporate support for the CCP has allowed the Chinese citizen to live their lives with some luxury at the behest of any freedom. Who know what would of transpired without this Western substinance of economic welfare. So out of hand that now the CCP is or will be dictating terms.
Wait, what? I don't remember Trump signing any bill that increased spending for Eastern European security or NATO. If spending went up during his first 18 months by 3X it must have already been appropriated. I seem to remember he was doing everything he could to cut spending in that region.

Georgia, 2nd Chechnya, Tajikistan, Dagestan. They also suppressed a few revolts behind the Iron Curtain pre-Afghanistan.
Big wars, small wars, they're still wars. What does the US have to do with whether Russia has won anything? Assad's still there, no?Not even close to being wars and those were regional conflicts that required little strategical planning, it’s quite obvious they aren’t good at it and Ukraine is another regional war. The US has fought wars in Eastern and Western Asia, halfway across the World with having to develop supply lines and forward operating bases. Russia has little to no experience in it other than propping up Assad in Syria.
WWII (with a lot of $$ help, obviously). Since they they've just beat vastly inferior forces.

What exactly does Assad still being in power have to do with Russia’s military prowess. And since you brought up Syria when Russia’s mercs in the Wagner Group faced off against the US we smoked around 200 of them with no losses of our own. Russia is a paper tiger that goes around bullying the neighborhood special needs kid and the Ukrainian resistance has clearly exposed that.Big wars, small wars, they're still wars. But they won in WWII. And winning is the point.Russia would have fallen to the Germans in WW2 without supplies from the allies and Hitler’s meddling. They were essentially saved by the weather against Napoleon and Hitler. They employed extremely poor tactics and simply overwhelmed the Germans with sheer numbers with no consideration for Russian infantry losses. They employed the same basic tactics in WW1 with little to no consideration for Russian infantry losses.
You mentioned that they haven't won anything. I gave examples of them winning a few.My point being they lack effective battlefield leadership and have had a long history of extremely poor tactics when compared to other World military powers. That is quite the accomplishment propping up a feckless leader in Syria against no real opposition.
I didn't bring up Syria. Russia's aim in Syria is to prop up Assad, and he's still propped. So they haven't lost that one yet. What exactly does Assad still being in power have to do with Russia’s military prowess.
