I wouldn’t necessarily say the bats went cold. We have 8 hits in 7 innings. Lipcius hit a ground rule double in the 2nd with a guy on 1st- a bit unlucky because the guy on 1st would have scored. Lipcius also hit what appeared he a HR that was called foul. Then, you have an ump calling a strike at the shin. We have a crucial error. Can’t do that in close games.
I’ve always felt like the rule that says the runner on 1st automatically stops at 3rd on a ground rule double is stupid. With all the judgment calls in bb, why not let the ump make the judgment to award home if the runner was CLEARLY going to score?

I know the controversy that would cause at times. But sometimes it’s obvious.

Dang it. Well I wonder when they were going to hit some adversity, now let's see how they handle it.
We knew it would happen. Anybody who knows baseball knew that. We’ll also likely lose a couple of series. It’s baseball. And it has nothing to do with wooden bats. Those who don’t know the game will panic when it happens.

The key is how they respond when it happens.

ive dreamth of such places. instead i'm stuck with s holston and noli.
I know a good spot, a surgeon owns a private pond filled with 30-40lb. . . some close to 50lb small mouth. Only been fished out of twice since '63. . . .

Really does have 6-10lb bass in it though. It's privately owned and only a few people know about it.

Didn’t have anything to do with anything.

Hitters being inpatient and swinging at bad pitches + pitchers coming back down to earth is what has cost the Vols the last 2 games.

It’s baseball. It happens. No one wins every game.

Only thing I dislike is how Vol hitters seem to b*tch about half of the strikes called against them. Looks like they’re flustered.
Agree with every part of this post. Think the ump was garbage today but we had blown opportunities regardless

I miss having a place to go and catch as many fish as you want. We had a pond that you could pull out as many 2-4 pound large mouths as you wanted to unhook, but a pair of eagles nested near it and fished it so hard that you would be lucky to catch anything now. I thought it was so cool at the time watching them fish but now not so much. That’s my theory anyway.

sounds awesome.

the holston has some monster smallies. as does the Noli.

Ive landed some meat cleavers on meat whistle, hand tied
craw patterns, and wiggle minnows. Woolhead Sculpins do well this time of year. Biggest smallmouth ive caught in my life was on a hand tied sculpin at Longs Island. 20-21" 4-4.5 lb range.
