Recruiting Forum Football Talk IV

Ok this probably isn’t a popular take partly bc I’m an introvert and I hate people in general, but recruiting has done lost its mind. Why do we (and I’m sure other schools do it too) dress up all the recruits in our uniform for pictures. Why?!? Half of all the recruits that visit end up going somewhere else. So a kid who decided to go somewhere else or had no intention of coming here put on our uniform. I just think it’s odd. What happened to if you commit then you have the privilege of wearing our uniform?!? Maybe I’m a weirdo. Oh well.

What if that’s the tipping point to commit to Tennessee?
If they go elsewhere, every time they put on the uniform of another school, it will feel cheap and they will regret their decision jmo 🤠

MLB is clueless. Dropping dollars to chase nickels and killing their sport.

In 2022 not only does this turn away potential fans... It introduces the fans you do have to the wonderful world of streaming that **** for free.

MLB still the most out of touch sports league in the world. And that's saying something because all three major sports fight like hell for that title.

Besides the construction blockages and jams, you have to take Bison and Bear jams into account when figuring out your driving times from spot to spot.

In 2011 we were stuck in a Bison jam going from Tower junction area to Canyon Village area for over an hour. One massive old bull figured out it was much easier to go up the road on Mt Washburn to cross Dunraven Pass to get over to Hayden Valley for the summer...

At least he only took up one lane, but there were cars lined up on both sides for miles taking turns passing him...lol.

I didn't even get mad...lol

So...in essence..you want to take things like that into account when figuring out your driving time between spots.

Wow different world! I feel like if that happens it is meant to be and just have to take it in stride. Thanks again McGill!

Bally Sports has made it near impossible to watch the games if you don't have traditional game. I use to be able to watch the Reds on FSOhio on YouTube TV, but it's impossible to watch Bally Sports Ohio if you don't have traditional cable like Spectrum.

This table suggests that we may need to score TDs on 37.5% of our offensive possessions in order to come out ahead on the scoreboard. jmo.

Note: We actually lost 10 fumbles on the year but since one of those was the muffed punt in the OM game it doesn't get counted against the offense.

Green: We won Pink: We lost. Sorted on TD%.

The reason for the high number of possessions in the Purdue game is mostly because our defense got 3 interceptions against the Boilermakers.

As a team last year we scored 67 total TDs, 63 by the offense, 3 pick-sixes, and 1 kickoff return. In 2019, our most recent 13 game normal comparison, we scored 35 total TDs, 32 by the offense, and 3 punt returns/blocked punts.

2021 was more fun. jmo.

What if our defense improved say, 10%

The idiocy of sports TV programming would be baffling for even psychologists to understand. The advertisers pay for the viewers in the various market segments they target. So they pay for less viewers in the markets they target because MLB (and other pro sports) believe that people will not travel hundreds to thousands of miles and buy a ticket for a single regular season game on the road if they can watch it on TV at home. Makes sense.

Most fans can't and won't drive down the street for games at home and pay the ridiculous ticket, parking and beer prices to watch their games as it is.

Like VolinDayton I follow the Reds (get over it). I have Spectrum and still cannot get the Reds games in East TN because for some reason they believe Cincinnati is a local team despite it being Braves territory and the Braves games being accessible on SS. Same with the MLB cable package.

Congrats to the advertisers for being as dumb as MLB and not forcing the changes. Congrats to the MLB owners for getting less revenue from TV sources since their viewership is down because the owners believe more people will attend one of their overpriced games and buy their overpriced beer and dogs. Idiots.
