As some of you know, I have a pretty massive family crisis going on involving my uncle who is a UT Baseball alum. that’s been the reason I’ve been mostly absent from here recently.

Prognosis isn’t great. My father relayed to me that they would consider it a success if he makes it to the end of the year. Between the chemo and heavy opiates, he’s hardly ever conscious as it is. It’s truly hard to watch.

The historic season from UT Baseball coinciding with all of this does seem nothing short of divine intervention in some way. It’s one thing that he has to stay cheerful and keep his mind off of the inevitable. That’s the only part of this entire situation that’s been amazing to see, both in the team itself and my uncles reaction to it.

In any case, thanks for all the prayers and reaching out in the time since I posted about this first. It means a lot. Godspeed.

Prayers for your uncle and his family.

What exactly is so horrendous about Tennessee baseball? What am I missing? They are just having fun, they aren’t doing anything lewd or disrespectful.

It's crazy how much Arkansas fans have started hating us. But it has to do with their former assistant who is taking the SEC by storm.

My brother lives in NW Arkansas, and we discussed this. Many are St. Louis Cardinals fans who believe their teams do it the "right way." Arkansas also has a player who some of their fans refer to as Bat Flip Jesus. He has openly discussed his faith (which is great), but he is known for his bat flips. Now, tell me how that isn't hypocritical when they don't like what our team does?

Arkansas mad as hell since Stoerner fumble, thought they had a modicum of redemption on that punt return fiasco, but that game didn't mean anything and they know it deep down
Start Beatin that Azz on the only thing they can hang their hat on and chaos ensues

It’s this simple….. we stole their assistant coach who some claim was their next head coach…. TV had beef with DVH last season…. We are number 1 and our antics drive other teams crazy…. If it is your team…. You love it…. When it is another team then you hate it.

There's nothing Tennessee is doing that other teams don't do except we're just winning more games. We don't even bat flip that much.

Is your brother a Tennessee fan? I'm in NWA too, always looking for fellow fans to watch the games with.

It just like anything else. . . it happens somewhere else, non-story. It happens here, front page.

I don't know much about Arkansas, except their state troopers don't mess around. Learned that a couple years ago on my way to a miserable place called Oklahoma.

@Christian Lowe -- OH and I are on year 2 of not supposed to be alive any longer. We're still in hospice and there has been more than one occasion that I thought the end had finally found us but so far it hasn't. It's a horrible thing to go through with a loved one but don't give up hope. Keep stealing more time -- as much as you possibly can. It means so much.

Were you all saluting the Arizona in that pic?

Can’t tell in this specific photo if we have started the salute yet but we always render honors by standing at attention and saluting when passing the USS Arizona on the way in. Thats one of the main reasons that I always volunteered to man the rails pulling into Hawaii especially. To see the USS Arizona from that viewpoint is humbling and moving, to say the least.

In Mayport, we had two carriers when I lived there. The Forrestal and the Saratoga. Both are decommissioned now. But each held 5000 crew. I think the newer carriers carry something like 7500 to 10000 crew. Can't quite remember. But carriers are huge.

As a kid, I always looked forward to my dad returning from deployments. I remember him leaving and returning on many a cruise.
there’s a couple carriers newer than the USS Ronald Reagan now, so maybe they carry more, but the Reagan held just under 6k people. It was about 3500 ships company and the rest were squadron attachments.

Vol fans wanted the Ole Miss QB's head during the game this past season because of his cockiness and taunting. Ole Miss ate it up. Turn it around t baseball and fanbases' opinions flip. It is what it is.
