Well….. that’s not the ncaa…. That’s Will Wade not winning enough and lsu wanting to not have to pay a buy out.
Wade agreed he could be fired with cause and no buyout previously. LSU not firing him post-NOA would have signed them up for total destruction. It was a mere formality at that point. And still...none of it would have happened had the spineless NCAA folded 2 years ago as so many predicted lol. The "tell em to eff off" crowd don't seem to realize the universities will always have a governing body. It is in all of their interests. They want rules and they want enforcement.

You can't just act like a petulent child when you get in trouble and throw double Gauldens. Yet, many folks acted all along like that was the best path...that's what UT should've done...Plowman is weak and dumb...and of course that's what they would do at work when confronted with being a cheater (and I fully believe all said folks really are that gangster at work and handle their own affairs in such a manner...they not only keep their job, but are promoted 😏).

Ball St, our season opener, has played 3 P5 teams in the past 3 years:

2021 Penn St - gave up 44 points
2019 Indiana - gave up 34
2019 NC State - gave up 34

37 ppg allowed on average.

How many do we score with Hooker, Tillman (albeit, still questionable), Bru, Hyatt, Jimmies, Small/JWill, etc?

I'm thinking 55.

Cool story & Ball State preseason SP+ forecast -

After beating us last year, Kenny Pickett and the Pitt Panthers returned home the following week to host Western Michigan. The Broncos defeated the then 13th ranked and eventual ACC champion Narduzzi boys at Heinz Field in a shootout, 44-41. Three weeks later the Ball State Cardinals travel to Kalamazoo to take on the Broncos and left Waldo Stadium with a 45-20 victory to their credit.

Last year Ball State had a very veteran team, with 10 offensive starters returning on that side of the ball. Their preseason SP+ last year was -1.3 which is pretty high for a MAC team. This year their returning production on offense ranks #118 and on defense ranks #127. Their preseason SP+ this year has fallen to -18.9. Nothing looks good for them this year but they do have a lot of older guys and so far this year they’ve brought in guys from UCLA, Iowa State, and Michigan State to bolster their defense.

A week or so ago some idiot in the FF started a thread that said something to the effect of “Don’t take Ball State lightly”. I didn’t even bother. smh.

Mike Neu is their head coach. He spent a lot of time in his early years coaching Arena football then spent a few years as a pro scout for the New Orleans Saints. In 2012 & 2013 he was the quarterbacks coach at Tulane and then moved up to be the quarterbacks coach with the Saints in 2014 & 2015. In 2016 he took the head coaching job at Ball State and in 2020 won the MAC championship.

Our matchup with the Cardinals will feature what the preseason SP+ ranks as the nation;s 3rd best offense against the nation's 125th best defense and Ball State's 119th ranked offense against the nation's expected 42nd best defense.

Last year in the first half against Missouri we scored 6 consecutive TDs to start the game and added a FG before halftime. (I took extra delight in Drinkwitz's postgame press conference). I could see us dropping 8 first half TDs on the Cardinals as we extend Coach Neu's boys a generous southern hospitality welcome to Neyland Stadium. jmo.

Right now this is how their schedule shapes up this year according to the preseason SP+:

Emmett needs to get out. The NCAA needs fresh faces that do things fair and even not based on biases. Timely and consistent across the board
Timely would be nice. Of course it means increasing resources likely and less money going back to the universities. But now that's it's gaining more public traction, they'll probably cave.

Consistency is very tough for anyone to say. More transparency and PR would be a nice start. The fact is no one can even tell if there are inconsistencies. Like the attorney Tom Mars pointed out with the transfer waivers - the general public has no idea what's really going on - and yet every single fanbase felt wronged for one reason or another. Not only is there a lack of transparency, but few understand the bylaws and how the NCAA and the infractions committee is limited in it's ability. It can't just make up rules on the spot, no matter how intuitively wrong something feels - like the UNC case. Even Mizzou. They have to follow whatever rules there are.

There was also an independent review suggestion. That wouldn't be bad.

They also mentioned a 2 year statute of limitations. That one rule in particular seems pretty awful and limiting though.

This will be a big moment for the NCAA……. This is the most level 1 infractions that a school has received….Let’s see how they punish LSU compared to us….. LSU sit in with every single step of the investigation with the NCAA….. They knew what the allegations was well before they received the notice from the NCAA…… They chose to fire Wade bc his coaching wasn’t good enough to keep him through this situation… If he had won a championship or looked like he had a chance this year…. He would still be on the sidelines.
