I have a friend whose niece and a friend were groomed and kidnapped before being able to escape. Keep a close eye on your kids and who they talk to online.

Wales would be a top 20 team. Iran is 21st. If Wales gets in, that's one even playing field. Here's to Scotland getting the upset.

Exactly. Scotland getting in would put us back toward the middle or further.

Iran isn’t bad. Would have rather got a team lower in the rankings but their ranking is also inflated. I posted this in the USA soccer thread:

Iran may be ranked 21st, but they have played one game in the last year against a team that is also in the World Cup, which was Japan (23rd in ranking), and they lost 3-0. Every other game was against competition outside of the top 50. So their ranking is a little inflated as they weren’t able to stack up quality wins so they stacked up wins against below average competition.

By FIFA rankings, we are the group of death. By perceptions rankings, group E is the killer if Costa Rica advance to that group. Iran’s ranking is inflated. Costa Rica is playing as good as anyone the last few windows of qualifying. Add them to an already heavy Germany and Spain top and throw in World #23 in Japan. That’s tough.

In the end, anyone can beat anyone any given day so USA will need to play really well to advance. It’s still a tough group.
