War in Ukraine

"...Without a doubt, the numbers both two sides are releasing to the media should be viewed cautiously. Nevertheless, the most conservative estimates of Western intelligence sources are that about 120 Russian attack helicopters (almost a quarter of its total) and 80 fighter jets (10 percent) have been brought down by the Ukrainians.

Those same estimates say that at least 10,000 Russian troops have been killed so far, in addition to thousands wounded. Ukrainian losses are considerably less, running at about 3,000 dead and thousands wounded."

I'll admit when I'm wrong, which doesnt happen often, but while I thought Russia would he fine in the long run and the Ruble would recover, I never thought it would recover as fast as it has...

Take advantage like the Chinese do. No more aid without strings, we give loans. We finance equipment with securities. No more moral high ground, if it's good for us that an evil SOB like Saddam is in power, work with him. We don't have to be complete a-holes like Putin but enough of spending or treasure and blood around the world with nothing in return.
I agree with this in part, I would still hope that American blood not be shed over political interests or profit.

I’m guessing you actually didn’t read the articles 😂 This professor was dunking on him in every one of them, there is a reason that the American people remember Carter’s presidency as one of the worst, especially us that lives through it.

That’s why the people rose up on both sides to vote him out in the next election.

German war production did not increase throughout the war. Yes, our early bombing campaigns were terribly ran and we picked the wrong targets but once we figured out the key was bearings we decimated war production.

There are no morals in total war, there is only winning or subjection.
Let’s face one fact though, what Speer did in keeping any meaningful aramaments production going in 1943 and 1944 was an organizational miracle: of course, considering the amount of slave labor used, he really shouldn’t have escaped the hangman’s noose at Nuremberg

I did read them. That's why I posted them. You may want to think a little deeper as you reread those articles.
I've never claimed he was popular, I've consistency claimed that he is the perfect example of why most politicians suck - because the public at large is to ignorant and shortsighted to support a good politician.
Had the public and congress been wise enough to follow his lead, the country would have benefited (especially in the long run).

What Russia has done to boost the ruble — for now
From CNN's Charles Riley

The barrage of sanctions imposed by the West following Russia's invasion of Ukraine decimated the ruble. But one month after the tanks rolled, the currency has made a full recovery and is now trading at levels seen prior to the war. How is that possible?
Russia's central bank has taken dramatic steps in recent weeks to intervene in the market, implementing policies to prevent investors and companies from selling the currency and other measures that force them to buy it.
What has Moscow done to boost the ruble?

  • The central bank has more than doubled interest rates to 20%. That encourages Russian savers to keep their money in local currency.
  • Exporters have been ordered to swap 80% of their foreign currency revenues for rubles rather than holding onto US dollars or euros.
  • Russian brokers have been banned from selling securities held by foreigners.
  • Residents are not allowed to make bank transfers outside Russia.
  • Russia has threatened to demand payment for natural gas in rubles, not euros or dollars.
What to look out for: These measures have allowed Moscow to artificially manufacture demand for the ruble. The problem facing policymakers is that with Russia's economy in tatters, nobody actually wants to buy the currency of their own accord. When the restrictions are lifted, demand for the ruble will drop, and its value will slide — perhaps dramatically.
The same is true for Russia's stock market. The benchmark MOEX index trended higher when trading resumed a week ago after a long stoppage forced by the war, but analysts say that's due to restrictions in place on investors, including a ban on short selling. Only 33 stocks were allowed to trade when the market reopened. When trading was extended to all stocks this week, the index fell again.
With that in mind, the rebound of the ruble and stock market moves shouldn't be taken as a signal that Russia's economy is on the mend. The country is facing its deepest recession since the 1990s, and the economy will shrink by a fifth this year, according to a recent forecast from S&P Global Market Intelligence.

They banned Russian political parties
They weren't Russian political parties. They are parties that represent the interests of Ukrainian citizens. Ethnic Ukrainians, Russians, Greeks, etc support these parties that have been banned by the Ukrainian government.

Are you also aware that ethnic Russians make up almost 20% of Ukraine's population? In the Eastern part of Ukraine it is much higher. So you would be okay if the U.S. government banned political parties that might represent the interests of ethnic minorities?

So not only are you okay with censorship from private businesses you are also okay if it happens from the government. You are really showing your true colors here pal.

Agreeing, not admitting. Very few are aware of the events there over the last several years. It seems the blame for the loss of life there lies with Russia.
How are you blaming the loss of life is civilians in the Donbass region on Russia when most of those deaths occurred at the hands of Ukrainian soldiers? Your statement makes no sense.

Much of this conflict could have also been prevented had the U.S. and other nations minded their own business over the years.

No they wouldn’t have. Even the majority of liberals thought it was so wrong and weak that not only did they NOT vote for him over Reagan, the Dems wouldn’t even consider a southern candidate again until Clinton.

He was a decent guy (although still ran a racist campaign his first time which you still haven’t condemned) but he was completely wrong in every facet of his administration and ideas. The entire country didn’t disagree with him because they were stupid it was because they felt and saw firsthand every disaster his administration either caused or made worse. Much like Biden now

Private businesses can do what they want because they have the freedom to do so. Sorry you don’t like it.
Do you believe that the US allows Al-Qeada or ISIS or the KKK to have political parties to run for president?

You're simply wrong, but I do not expect you to ever realize that.
The debate is pointless, as it was the previous 57 times.
