War in Ukraine

I was specifically referring to the statement you made about the news sources. What you accuse Russia of doing Ukraine has done the same with their news sources. I think it's safe to say Ukraine and Russia both have totalitarian regimes.

Thousands of civilians have also died in the Donbass region since 2014. Where's all the outrage for that?

This is a conflict that is largely the fault of U.S. and European meddling in the area.

Hmmm…I feel like it is the fault of the guy that invaded.

That goes without saying. That's true of everyone everywhere.
But you conveniently avoided answering the question.....Do you think the average Russian citizen or the average American citizen is more factually informed about the Ukrainian situation?

Of course there is always the spineless escape route of claiming they are exactly equal.......it is a copout commonly used in the PF.
I didn't say they were exactly equal. I clearly said that we are both not likely getting a true picture of what is going on. That's not a copout. That is simply a fact.

Americans will gladly make sacrifices when necessary, but they will surely balk at making sacrifices to cover for their leaders’ stupidity. A neighbor shouldn’t ask to borrow my car for the week after he totaled his driving drunk.
100% agree. The neighbor was an idiot for ignoring the warnings and advice a wiser man would have heeded.

It's a simple fact that in no way answers the question asked - which makes it a big copout.
But most of us understand your reluctance.

so far beyond the point of absurdity that if Gods real hes gonna kill a billion puppies in your name
When you finish with your comedy routine, isn't it incredible we were actually looking for moderate Khmer Rouge members to still play a role in the Cambodian govt?

When have we ever been on the right side of one of these conflicts since WWII?

Putin fears NATO expansion yet is the reason for more NATO expansion I find it ironic.

Pootin getting rekt in Ukraine and NATO expanding into two countries that had no intention of doing so just a month ago.

😂 Talk about an all time backfire.

Hey @volgr , was this part of the plan? Derp.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The US and it’s allies were engaged with an enemy that implemented a total war strategy. At that point, the allies only option was to fight in the same fashion. The US did not conduct many effective bombing campaigns into the German heartland until mid 1944 due to stiff German air defenses. They didn’t bomb Dresden until 1945. They also bombed during the daytime which further complicated their strategy. I will admit area bombing wasn’t the greatest strategy compared to British strategies but as stated earlier they were left with few options. If the US conducted a total war strategy on an enemy where that strategy was unnecessary, then yes we would deserve it.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Yeah the Russians entered Germany mid February 1945 a few weeks before we did.
I thought they were in Germany (East Prussia ) by August 1944 and within 100 miles of Berlin by January 1945. But either way they were being rapidly rolled up and their production started decreasing around October 1944 with a surrender in April 1945.

Actually the surrender was in May. Hitler committed suicide at the End of April but the Donitz government in Flensburg carried on the war for another week, mainly to give more time for German forces in the East to retreat West in hopes of surrendering to the Americans and British instead of the Soviets

German war production did not increase throughout the war. Yes, our early bombing campaigns were terribly ran and we picked the wrong targets but once we figured out the key was bearings we decimated war production.

There are no morals in total war, there is only winning or subjection.

I thought they slowed down after we bombed their methamphetamine factories and cut their supply lines .
