Ireland is a member of the Security Council right now and a wildcard; they might vote opposite Britain just for spite. The African countries might do anything; but given history, I wouldn't bet against them siding with Russia.

Oh boy, abolish the DOE but send weapons everywhere around the world! Dump all that dough into useless defense contracts and corrupt half-allied nations! That'll do it! Nevermind that you can't even respond to how that's worked out so brilliantly for all of us here watching our friends (and now in my case, cousins) deployed and supporting senseless combat that has little to do with American defense- or if it does, made worse because ignoramuses like yourself want to arm one side that never turns those weapons back on us, no, never! You go off on spending and then when I speak of places I approve of cutting spending, it isn’t the right kind for you. A prior post and I was supposedly not even willing to cut any spending. What is the next absurd claim by you. I expect it never ends.

Do you think American intervention just happened yesterday? If so, you’re stupid. If not, then why do you feel compelled to be outraged over your friends /relatives in our voluntary army? You do realize there are people that want to defend American interests without regard to philosophizing over the right or wrong of it. Again, we been doing this for decades and the voluntary military isn’t deplete of volunteers.

Too bad kids, we sent some weapons (already paid for) to Ukraine, now we’re broke. Lol.

I'd even phrase this a little differently to say there are people who would support another country's or person's liberty because we supposedly believe in the opportunity for others to be free regardless of our interests. In many regards we could just have remained neutral to what happened in Europe during WW2, and decided whether to go to war with Japan or turn the other cheek. Personally I think we've gotten off track as a country in why and who we choose to defend and the justifications for it all. As mostly Tennesseans with the Volunteer heritage here in this forum, there should probably be greater appreciation in supporting the weak from the strong.

This would make sense if supporting Ukraine was supporting freedom. Arms we're giving to them are going to the political establishment in that country that has banned opposition political parties and clamped down on media as if they're Putin Lite. Suddenly they get invaded and the narrative shifts?

I've said all along that the United States needs to stay out of it completely. Partially because this is an evil on evil, bad guy on bad guy fight, partially because the interests of Ukraine are damaging to our own (it profits directly, and greatly, by encouraging American corruption), partially because it's a total waste of American resources, and partially because even limited support will inevitably be used as a springboard for greater involvement. None of these things are false, and the price to pay is, as always, going to rest heavier on the average American than non-involvement would. That's not our burden to bear especially when we've just been whipped all over the place by a pandemic.
