I am so lost on this! Lol

Like Invol lost in the wilderness lost
The irony is apparently a lot of people that hate Hollywood also happen to know way too much about these peoples' personal lives. And yet the only reason celebrity culture continues to be pushed is because someone follows it.

I'm pretty lost too...but I'm always here for slapsgiving as well. Will has 2 more slaps...

Gives new meaning to the name "Johnson City"..

Jmo but maybe the whole Will Smith thing is being misunderstood.

Look at it from more of a...Everybody Loves Raymond or even Curb Your Enthusiasm perspective...

Will actually laughed at the joke. Quite a bit. Now...Jada on the other hand looked pissed. I'm about 99.9% certain he got caught laughing while Jada was giving him the death stare...he realized it...and then completely panicked and oversold the defense of his wife...just so he wouldn't end up in the dog house for weeks.

Somehow, deep down, I also bet Chris Rock, a formerly married man, realized this as well and just rolled with it while not pressing charges. Deep down he's probably like I would've done the same thing if my wife busted me like that 😂
If all women could only be so lucky to have a man that would sucker slap someone to defend their honor.

Probably why it felt staged to me...Will & Jada conveniently that close to the main stage. The delayed reaction, the long walk-up, Chris Rock not only not doing anything to defend himself but also having his hands down/behind his back.

Either he had zero idea Will would actually touch him OR he knew 100% Will was going to slap him. Cause if you're worried or uncertain you'd at least flinch.

I don't know, to me even after delivering a poor taste joke I would have expected Rock to respond a bit more than he did. I've seen comedians get confronted and then they turn into the aggressor more than what Rock did.

Hollywood sucks. There are a handful of decent folks in the movie business that would be able to earn a living doing other things if movies didn't exist. The rest of them would likely starve to death in a month if people stopped giving a crap about the mediocre products that they put on the screen and expect people to continue handing over their hard earned money. Fill up your gas tank to get to work and pick up the kids or go sit in a filthy nasty movie theater and watch three hours of cursing, violence, and nudity that somehow makes the plot actually worse than it already was? Yeah, I'm going to work.

It just looks like Will got caught by his massively controlling wife, laughing at a joke on a sensitive subject, at her expense, and overcompensated to make amends in a toxic relationship (This comes from the parts some time ago about her poly-amory in the relationship that he basically just had to accept and let happen in order to keep the relationship... I don't remember all the details.) Chris looked exactly like someone who was expecting an unscripted comedic follow-up from Will, was playing it up, and got surprised by violence. Will looked exactly like someone who was making a show and didn't have a lot of actual heart in the violence.

Yeah can see that as well. But guess who is now trending on Twitter with an upcoming tour with Kevin Hart...not Will Smith. Of course I don't know if Rock/Will have any sort of prior acquaintanceship or friendship either. Like some other people have mentioned though, that joke delivered by a larger comedian the response probably isn't to walk up on them.

Hey I mean if ur cool with another man making fun of ur family or wife's illness in front of millions of people then more power to ya.Im not saying how he handled it was correct but ur a punk in my eyes if u allow some disrespect like that to go on and do nothing.Im also speaking more of just a in general every day life setting majority of us ain't accepting awards on stage tv.

Ok internet bad ass. Just please do not date a daughter of one of the fathers on here as the resulting epic battle may signal Ragnarok.

But I mean, a half-hearted slap ALSO in front of millions of people ain't exactly a great response in the "defend thy honor" way either is it?

You're a comedian, you and your wife both are involved in acting. Often portraying and saying insulting things to/about other people all the time. In fact the same exact disease Jada has has been used in a joke by young Will himself, granted before they were married/together but he sure didn't seem to worried about the target of that joke when telling it then. End of the day the moment became "a moment" not because of the rather lame joke but because of Will's reaction to it. To me it seems more likely all parties involved wanted to draw more attention to it...Rock has an upcoming tour, Jada likely wants her name attached to something for future work, the Oscars DEFINETELY wanted to draw more attention.
