You’re one tough lady! So glad you’re able to have and enjoy this small victory that others take for granted. I hate cancer even more than alcohol because there is no choice. God bless you! It's been incredibly tough. I thought the worst was the house fire but nope we never got a chance to really process that because this happened directly after and took center stage. And anything that can upstage losing everything is well, huge. But cancer and liver failure have a way of making themselves known. I honestly just wish I could somehow convey to your hubby what he's giving up and how much pain and suffering is genuinely involved. I know he probably feels like he can't stop but with help he really can. We never went through the addiction side of things (it all happened too fast for that) but I know there are rehabs out there designed to help if he's willing to give things a shot.
I mean this week we're planning to go see Batman. Such a small thing for most people to go see a movie. But it's a huge victory for us and something I'm pumped about doing because it's something we can do without too much worry. It's something that we simply couldn't have done a few months ago and something that we might not be able to do at any given time. I don't want that for you or for anyone else.
My thing is that the Smiths have an extremely public life with a lot of serious relationship and personal issues. Chris picked something that was fairly benign in all of that mess (though it IS a personal health thing she can't control - also, I had no idea I just thought she liked short hair). Will doesn't get to decide what part (or all) of his family's life is above or undeserving of being joked about. He doesn't get the privilege to say, "Sorry Hollywood, we are off limits to the jokes."It’s been known for a while that she’s had it, but it’s just a line not to cross. Comedians know a lot about other people they’re joking on cause that’s part of their process. I kinda laughed hearing it, but Will snapped. So probably not a good idea by Chris. But whatever, it was definitely entertaining and there will be tons of jokes about this.
Ive thought about it a little (a little ashamed I spent any time thinking about actors & the Oscars). I'd probably be ready to smack someone if they were making jokes about my family, but I'm thinking more in a different situation. I could see being fighting mad if they were making jokes to mutual friends or people I dont know.I don't thing it was staged. Chris Rock was obviously shook and slurred his words after. He was kinda speechless. But I do think Will Smith was prepared to do that.
Last time (2016) Chris Rock hosted he made a crack about Jada Pinkett not attending out of protest. “It’s like why I didn’t attend Rihanna’s panties…I wasn’t INVITED!” They’ve been feuding ever since.Ive thought about it a little (a little ashamed I spent any time thinking about actors & the Oscars). I'd probably be ready to smack someone if they were making jokes about my family, but I'm thinking more in a different situation. In their situation, the dude is a comedian, he's doing a bit, Smith is an entertainer too and should know better. I have the feeling they were already on edge about stuff leading up to it and that just pushed it over.
