It seems like the Jimmies are just looking for a way out instead of trying to actually get better and earn a spot. All I ever hear about them is they are rumored to be wanting to leave...it is getting on my nerves.

Out of curiosity, what doesn’t get on your nerves? 😇

V for VAGINAS! Am I right gang?!?!

Also Lady Vols may be pretty damn good for the foreseeable future.

Miles, Puckett, Wynn, and Striplin are all FR
Darby & Suarez are SOs
Key, Horston, Rennie, Saunders are all JRs
Burrell is a SR, but could return if she wanted to.

Ya lose Dye, Walker, and Green for sure.

Wow...Browns been active. Watson, Cooper, and tagged Njoku. Should have some offense this year!

Steelers I think may have found their next QB of the future, I actually think Mitch is a solid pickup. Damn Colts landed Ryan for next to nothing, he'll be able to give them at least a year or two of solid production.

Titans adding Woods and Hooper is nice, really like those moves. Also like they kept Ben Jones and Landry, hopefully they don't let Evans walk.

Call me crazy...but I think overall the secondary might be better next year.

We lose Theo & Alontae.

But Flowers, Burrell, McDonald, Hadden, Turnage, Rucker, Charles, Slaughter, Edwards, McCollough all return and get another full off season to improve.

You also added Desmond Williams who was able to EE, and you'll have Harrison & Thomas arriving on campus this summer.

We even added Wesley Walker a Nashville native via transfer portal who'll be on campus after this semester I believe.

One name I see missing is Tyus Fields, never really seemed to get on the field while here though. Not in the portal but also not on our updated roster...so no sure what's going on there.

You're crazy. j/k

I think it sort of depends. We don't have the elite talent that some have and we're not going to overcome that with wishful thinking. Our run defense and our pass defense did pretty good last year against lesser competition which they should if they are well coached. Against better competition one or the other failed us. No surprise right?

So Kenny Picket is gone and maybe if we make a bowl we won't have to face a Purdue-like relentless pass attack. The point is that our performance has a lot to do with the strengths of our opponents. We need to figure out how our defense can slow down mobile QBs.

I think South Carolina and Missouri should likely improve from last year. If Kentucky wins 10 games then we don't have to worry because every time they win 10 games they lose to us. If they win less than 10, we may be in for a fight.

I looked at the SP+ Bill Connelly put out earlier this year and best I can figure we have 9 wins, 1 toss-up (on the road at Pitt), and 2 losses (UGA and UA). I'm not optimistic that's the way things will shake out. We'll see.

I think we have an essentially 3-star secondary sometimes going up against 5-star/NFL receivers/QBs and generally that's not a favorable matchup. Our guys are fine against peer or lesser competition but after that we're toast. I think maybe the way to compensate is to have 3 or 4 elite pass rushers, rotate them so as to keep them fresh, but do everything we can upfront to help the guys on our back end when we're up against the elite teams. Then the challenge becomes can our pass rushers beat the elite offensive linemen they're going against.

I don't know how this season is going to go but I suspect we're going to get a good deal of hype in the preseason. We may be picked to beat Florida but if Napier can get Richardson going, he could be a nightmare.

I think we actually did really good last year what with all the attrition and a new coaching staff. I think that's a testament to the coaching and the new culture with the team. We did pretty well against teams where we weren't overmatched. Can we improve this year? Well, yeah, we can, but it's going to be a tall order to overcome the talent gap we'll have with some of our more elite opponents. jmo.

So the bar is set, 10-2, 11-2 with a bowl win. We just have to figure out how to get there. jmo.

Great analyst as always Chatta!

I guess my thought was that the guys left have speed (Rucker, Charles, Slaughter specifically) and are entering year 2 in this S&C program and spring ball with the same staff/position coach. All still relatively young and have the opportunity to compete for field time.

The transfer talent in Turnage, Hadden and also Walker are all good size and solid recruits outta HS. I always favor secondary talent that's spent time in the system. One area of the field I don't generally expect to see incoming freshmen play a lot, cause typically if they are playing a lot it's not a good thing.

I also actually think you touched on one thing I believe will improve the secondary, better pass rush. Last year we saw RG develop what he had, and then this year we saw him go get some high level guys. Adding West, Jacobs, Pearce, Phillips will be a big benefit I think. Especially considering West/Phillips are both already on campus working with the team. Then you return guys who started to really take games over in Young, Roman, Baron, and Omari and them getting pushed by the new talent while also having more depth in that group to help keep them fresh (hopefully) leads to an overall better pass rush and more stout front.

I also think we see some strides in the LB group. Banks, Beasley both return, still have Page, Mitchell, Mohan, Willis got some depth from the portal and also add some stout guys in this class in Perry & Herring. I guess all I'm really saying is the defense has added some talent and also depth at every level and despite our losses I could see that side of the ball collectively taking steps forward. Banks is also a year wiser in his role as DC which I believe will benefit us.
