I don't feel the same physicality was allowed on both sides of the floor. It's not a "the refs cost us the game" argument, I just feel they allowed Michigan to make more contact than they allowed us. The tournament officials should consider using neutral officials to battle that perception. For people that feel like I do about the physicality argument, it looks worse when you find out two of the officials were from Michigan's conference. Comes across as a conflict of interest.I dont know that I feel Michigan was allowed to get away with more, just how the game was called. There was a lot of stuff that wouldve been called during an SEC reg season game. Both teams wouldve fouled out on touch fouls if it was an SEC crew.
Also, when they show replays of the incredible "block" and you see them amputating Chandler's arm with no whistle.I don't feel the same physicality was allowed on both sides of the floor. But again, no one thing cost us this game.
It reminded me a lot of how Arky and LSU play. Foul so much they only call the egregious stuff.I don't feel the same physicality was allowed on both sides of the floor. I think we're all a bit heartbroken today. We just handle it in different ways.
If the seeds were swapped, I do think we get more fouls in our favor that would have created space for our shooters. They also wouldn't have let their big man play like the star of the show.
Someone else brought up the TV timeouts too, and that's a really good point. Michigan isn't the first team to harass our shooters. The main difference is that we usually just run other teams tired and get open. That's not a factor when you get so many breaks.
Just sucks man. No other way around it.
Yes…. Sounds about right. So let’s see if I get this right.
1. The refs were a big reason we lost. But in our big wins, they didn’t really factor in. It was just great coaching and playing.
2. We had a bad shooting night.
3. Barnes has zero blame for this loss. It was all on the players.
4. Barnes is a HOF coach and is completely immune for criticism.
5. If you criticize Barnes then you should just go pull for another team.
6. Barnes out coached Howard big time it just had to do with our shooting.
7. Even though Barnes has a long history of choking in March, this loss isn’t that big of a deal.
8. The NCAA seeding was yet another big issue for us. Michigan is such a bad matchup for us and we didn’t beat any teams better than them.
Sound about right?
Im not sure if its the same stretch youre thinking of, but theres one point that Howard called a TO, and then right after got another break with the TV timeout. That was really smart from him to steal and extra break back to back.Boy that stretch after we had em gassing was suspicious. KC & ZZ had ran em tires for a few layups and I think I saw like 4 possessions and 6-8 timeouts/breaks directly afterwards. It helped Michigan more than us for sure.
