You think that maybe, just maybe that Michigan just had a good game shooting? And I disagree with your BS assessment..we got a lot of great looks and they just didn't go down.
I thought earlier in the game Michigan put extreme pressure on us especially vescovi…. We got more open looks late but rushed them bc of how hard we were having to fight for those shot earlier in the game….. on defense…. We never figured out how to handle the screen from their big man…. In the post…. We couldn’t figure out if we wanted to double him or not and those shifts were slow and late.

Another thing that others have brought up-- The CBS tv time outs. They were guarding Vescovi like Fort Knox, but usually when they do this stuff, he can still stiff them because of his incredible conditioning. Unfortunately, it seemed like every time we got into a good rhythm where the other team was gassed, we had a commercial- which allowed them to rest it's players. It reminds me of our football team-- when those guys flop and pretend their injured, except it was a TV time out. It will be interesting if any other teams like ours make it far. CBS needs to look into their policy of having a huge amount of commercials constantly. It definitely messed with our mojo.

I agree, Barnes IS a great coach and any calls for his firing or even for his seat to be hot here are premature imo. Unless you have a sure fire upgrade lined up, you don't make that move. However...

Question: Do you think that Barnes has underperformed in March over the course of his career? It's certainly not a small sample size.
I think there is some merit to what Mcgill is saying about the tourney being a crapshoot ;because, to a point it is. However if you look at Barnes overall body of work in March then I believe it tells a story of something he does or doesnt do or how he builds his roster. His teams just always seem to lack something needed. You would think at some point the ball would bounce the other way and the break would go TN way but for whatever reason Barnes just cant get that rabbits foot on his side.

On a side note, watching the post game press conference Barnes seemed lost last night, and i dont mean lost as in confused or distant or not knowing what was going on etc... but lost as in I believe he thought he finally had that team, I think he liked this team a lot, I think he thought this team was going far not saying he didnt like other teams, but I think he had a different feeling about this team.

I think Barnes is unlucky. I know that is hard to quantify, but in a sport where just getting hot and staying hot for 6 games wins you a title..it is what it is.

How many all time GREAT GREAT teams have we seen over the decades that did not win? Deep talented teams that had great inside and outside players, and a deep bench...but still lost...I have seen teams like that lose multiple times over the years anywhere from the second round to the final four...that is just the nature of the NCAA tournament.

This team had flaws, but I believe they worked extremely hard to mask and overcome those flaws.

With such a guard dominated team, you have to depend on the outside shot to go down when teams gamble and decide to shut down the drive...and when those shots don't go down en masse like they did not yesterday...you are going to lose unless the other team is just as cold.
Thanks. I agree, I don't think this loss falls on RB at all. It just sucks and if luck is all it is, that sucks even more lol. I'm certainly no basketball expert and sports are random, certainly a tournament in this format. Ultimately, my point was just that I also kind of see where people who question his overall record in March are coming from with their salt. It just sucks all around.

This, it seems like there are more commercials in the tourney than reg season, and it also seems like the refs always seem to call something in the tourney right at the TV timeouts, so they dont miss one.

Agreed, this is I guess where I'm at too. I don't think he is a bad coach, I think he is a really good coach so I'm trying to figure out the reason it just never seems to go his way. Maybe it IS just **** luck but that is just always frustrating when it's the likely explanation and you want a more concrete answer lol

You said a lot to say nothing. That made zero sense. Your side note is absolutely stupid.

This team we played had lost 4 of its last 7 games heading into the tourney…. They were also without their starting point guard that averaged double figures in the regular season….. sure…. We still could have one but from the point that you mentioned…. We hardly stopped them on any of their possessions.
Got to give it to them , we had more steals than we had turnovers. We just missed our shots when we needed them most. That's what happened no excuses just happens .

I dont think its all just luck. Early on the story was he ran his teams down with the way he practiced them, and to a point with his early teams I agree with that. With this team they just didnt have enough of a big man presence. In 17 the KA injury. The Carson Edwards 3 the next year. But you have to be good enough to overcome the breaks that dont go your way.

Would also add Olivier N to the development list. He showed significant progress this year and think he will continue to work. Wonder if Powell and Bailey return as I could see both leaving which would open a couple of spots for transfers.

Agree on Nkamhoua. Fulk is gone, Powell and Bailey need to be. They tried, but are not talented enough and that has been apparent since the start of the season. They took time away from Mashack's game time development without adding much. Same with Fulk getting 22 minutes a game for the season that increased after Nkamhoua went down. I get why CRB did it, wanted experience. But Fulk is not talented and big enough to handle dominant big men. When he caught COVID and subsequently lost his stamina, it was Aidoo and Hatfield that stepped up during the last half run that produced a lot of good stuff.

We've had a weakness for years against teams that play slower tempo and physical. So guess what less talented and less successful in the regular season teams are going to do when it gets tourney time and the refs swallow the whistles at the neutral sites? We are not protected as an elite school is. Got to be smarter about it than we have been to be successful. Losing to teams that probably should not even make the field is not good.

Practice against your own guys can only go so far in developing talented players. Play the talent the most minutes regardless of the experience. So what if you lose a few more regular season games. By tourney time the talent becomes experienced and accustomed to playing together. We just let a basically 7 man rotation with a back-up PG on a14 loss team beat the SECT champ when it mattered most. We should not be making fun of Calipari and UK. CRB needs to hire a coach he trusts who can handle the rotations for him while adding some wrinkles to the O. He's too good at leading the program, development and recruiting to let this continue as it is.

I'm out until the fall on basketball. I've had enough of the snark from dumb arses, trolls and acolytes.

Time to follow baseball and spring football practice. We know what is coming from both of them.

This was a huge factor, their big man was wearing down then it was a time out at the 10 min mark then again at 7:58 left and they took over. The first 10 min of the second half we had control.

Okay Yellowstone fanatics. I signed up for paramount+ thinking it was on there but it isn't. Two questions.

1. Best place to watch yellowstone?
2. Should I just watch 1883 first since it is on paramount+ or will I miss nods to the original show and not appreciate it as much as I should.

Anyone understand this crap?

I didn’t say that he suggested to fire Barnes. Read you dumbb@stard. I simply said we were up 6. Had a wide @ss open shot to go up 9 but ZZ missed. It happens.
Bravo to you
I’m dumb and can’t read
Nice response though
Players change but he still doesn’t do well in the tournament
You can’t argue that
Don’t give me this 2 and what ever numbers **** and act like that matters but then ignore tournament numbers

yellowstone is on regular Paramount. They will normally show the entire series episode by episode once or twice a year to get people caught up.
