You'd be shocked. We used to have churches that would have kids and families for events for freakin Halloween...because it was "evil". The manufacturing of fear and resulting fragility is real in America.
Oh no that's gotten popular again. It never happened when I was a kid. In fact, we'd have laughed at them if they'd tried but pastors are recycling old tactics that people had forgotten about. Of course we still enjoyed the 'no politics' in church rule that evaporated somewhere along the between then and the early 00s. Imagine a world in which it was Baptist ministers that pushed for separation of church and state to be enshrined in our nation's laws because that time was when the Constitution was written and was reaffirmed in writing by various conventions as late as the 50s and 60s.
