First round upset specials.

South Region: 13 Chattanooga knocks off 4 Illinois, 10 Loyola upsets 7 Ohio St (honestly not an upset...but based on seeding it would be)
Midwest Region: 13 South Dakota St over 4 Providence, 14 Colgate over 3 Wisconsin
West Region: 11 Notre Dame over 6 Bama, 10 Davidson beats 7 Michigan State
East Region: 11 Virginia Tech over 6 Texas

Honestly could see even more with how badly seeded this year's bracket is.

I like it all except for some reason Mich St always plays tough and rises to the occasion in the tourney...

I don't want to put too many expectations on the tournament or this team. They did something no other team has done since 1979 so I'm pretty content.

I'll just look towards game 1 and hope they play to their potential. A game we can and should win, but a game ya still have to play and execute, focus on Thursday.

Honestly our seeding came down to just 2 games...

Losing by 28 at Kentucky
Losing by 18 to Villanova

That's it, if the committee is honest with us they'd say that. I think considering we then beat Kentucky twice since then kind of erases/evens that one out. And Villanova was the 3rd game of the season...seems like the other 31 games after it would have more weight...but what do I know.

I will say if we had lost those two games by single digits we'd be a 2 seed imo.

What happened the next game they play each other after we lost to a top team?

There's that for Nova. We got much better as the season went on. Nova stayed the same.

if we lose before the 2nd weekend, it'll be disappointing for sure. but it'll feel better when they hang that banner in TBA next fall.

that said, i think it's perfectly ok to expect to make it to the 2nd weekend this year. there's no one this weekend that we can't beat. hell, even after that there's no one we can't beat. we already beat UNC, Auburn, UK, LSU, ARK, AZ....we lost to nova, TTU, Bama, UK.

long story short....there's not a game we'll play that we CAN'T win.

Let me qualify this saying we are gonna win it all but what is the floor for tournament wins for this season to not be a failure in the eye of volnation?

Anyone know the answer to this question…Since we’re an early afternoon game Thursday and winner gets the Mich/Co State winner (they play at 12:15 Thursday) does that mean if we win we’ll play around the same time Saturday (early) or is it random and we could just as likely play at 8pm?
I would say same time. UK will probably get the later slot in Indy.

All the talk is about KC being the X factor, and it’s with good reason, but honestly when JJJ is hitting shots this team becomes so much better. He’s the X factor for me. Not only is he an All-SEC defender (**** the SEC for that snub), but here lately he’s showing that he can be a relied on additional scorer as well. He’s not going to take off and be the leading scorer or anything the rest of the year but if we can keep getting 12-15 PPG from him the rest of the way that would be huge.

This ^.

The season turned when he came alive on O and KC stopped playing HS ball as Barnes put it. JJJ is the X factor. The guy can play 4 positions - three of them really well, plus be the team leader. ZZ, BHH and Aidoo adding quality minutes helped as well when Nkamhoua went down.

Absolutely love this team for basketball as well as just as people.
