I’m not sure Guarantano’s problem has ever been arm strength, but rather his propensity to throw it to the opposing team (especially for a TD).
He has one of UT's lowest career interception rates ever at UT. The best since at least the mid 90s...(fwiw Hooker could very well eclipse him for his UT career).

That said, his last year under good ole Chaney will forever be burned into memories everywhere. Is what it is for him.

I'd agree with you, he does have a strong arm...great ability to take a pounding too. But the entire rest of the package doesn't appear NFL caliber. Sorry. Hate to say it for him. Kid took an absolute beating here for years and played for 2 complete jackasses. VFL and wish him the best. Seems like a good and tough kid.

Baseball had BEEN back. College kids play harder. Go Vols!!

I'm very well aware. I was at the Tennessee game last night, will be there tomorrow, and was there for the Super Regionals. I'm a huge supporter of college baseball, but I can still be excited for the MLB's return.

Was going to suggest The Battery and Punch Bowl Social...it's merely part of another suburban area outside of Atlanta...even North as well...but even that is 50 mins away. Mark Richt has lost control of the Atlanta suburbia hell.

Even Top Golf, a mere 12 miles away, shows as a 35 min drive. Maybe just stay inside or walk to Applebee's. Love visiting that area, but need an Uber and alcohol to not want to punch the traffic. Or stay Midtown or downtown and walk everywhere...have done that a few times and it sure beats the outer ring.

Not sure about now, but before COVID you could often score a high end room in Buckhead for cheap (5* for $100-$150 on Priceline with "expert" bidding strategies). Good food within walking distance. Might see celebs. Saw Food network peeps at Intercontinental once. Sat next to Matt Ryan and his wife one time at Bones. Nice guy. We'd stay there often when I went to ATL for business.

His TD to INT ratio was worse than Bray, Ainge, Clausen and Manning.

Saw an interesting stat on the MLB the other day. The average MLB viewer is now 57 years old. It's had declining popularity for years. Average age is low 40s for soccer and NBA. 49 for NHL.

One just has to wonder how long before the MLB goes from tied for 2nd/3rd with the NBA to possibly the 4th sport in the U.S. Is there any hope for it as far as a resurgence goes? Just doesn't seem to have the kids' eyes like with past generations. I find it a little sad, except UT Baseball's surging popularity is more than enough consolation for just myself.

It will probably take time. I'd say 15-20 years. But it does seem the trend...hell, at this point it might be an e-sport to overtake it and not even soccer or hockey or UFC.

My sister's place in Buckhead is my $0 hotel outside the belt...

Her fiance's house in midtown is my backup $0 hotel...

But I never see Matt Ryan at either, so complaints shall be lobbied! This is news to me.

In all seriousness, I've always been surprised at the affordability of hotels in Atlanta. We've always gotten good places for less than $250 consistently, even in the middle of Summer and music festivals. They have strong supply. The question is usually uber vs walking and cost analysis of the full bundle. Walking and inner city seems to always win out.

MLB needs to do 2 things to regrow.
1. Do a better job of marketing its top stars.
2. Find a way to get into something mainstream. One thing that makes the NBA so popular is because a lot of sneaker-heads follow it and buy shoes from guys they like. I know you cant really market cleats, but theres gotta be an avenue somewhere for MLB to sneak in.

Looking at going to an event at Gas South Arena in Duluth, GA. Any of you Atl area folks got any recommendations for food, lodging, interesting things to do in the area?
From arena, take Sugarloaf south toward Lawrenceville, or North to Old P'tree Road intersection. You can go north on I85 to GA Hwy 20 exit and lots around the Mall of Georgia ( and it's a safe area). South on I85 to Pleasant Hill will find more ethnic food.
There's a Marlowes Tavern close to arena and those are dependable as well as Taco Mac mentioned earlier.

I highly agree with both. I hardly watch any NBA or MLB, but easily know 10x more NBA stars. I'd also say the average know-nothing can still name 2-3 NBA stars. If I asked my wife to name a current MLB player she'd probably say A-Rod, if not Roger Clemens lol.

The sport used to have baseball cards as its "thing". Even that has died off. And the NFT market is mostly NBA. Baseball jerseys are extremely awkward looking with regular clothes on top of it (I guess all jerseys are, but just moreso). There must be something niche to popularize, who knows.

Theres gotta be something, but thats for people way smarter than me with the degree for that stuff to figure out.
I will say, I am somewhat doubtful it happens anytime soon, but if they had another good HR chase and someone had a legit run at the record, I think it could bring a lot of eyes to the sport. Maybe a few would stick around.

He has every physical tool. It is always been the mental ability to process information in a game fast and efficiently that he doesn’t have IT. He looks pretty on air but throw in a defense and he gets a mental block. He is too busy thinking instead of acting. Like a robot. He will sit there like he has all day and it’s like is he the only guy that doesn’t see he is about to get murdered if he doesn’t throw the ball.

Was kinda funny with Matt Ryan. He eats at Bones often apparently, and usually sits in the VIP area, but it was full, so he ended up with the normal people. You get used to seeing football players with their helmet on, so I didn't immediately recognize him, but finally figured it out. He and his wife ate in peace, people gave them space. When he got up to leave, he saw a kid at the next table over wearing a Ryan jersey. He walked over, introduced himself, signed an autograph, made a picture with the kid, totally made the young man's day. Both he and his wife seemed really pleasant and seemed to genuinely enjoy the interaction. Not always the case with guys like that.

He wasn't bad early, but was mostly short passes. His INTs jumped considerably later.

He's got a million dollar arm but doesn't have the mind to use it well.

JG and short passes were never actually a thing. His ADOT was 10-11+ in his career. It was definitely a myth though on here, for what reason I could never understand. Other than people remembering what they want and ignoring real data.

Not saying you, it's been too long ofc at this point, but the myth spread and continued.

I even did a post on in it after his 2018 season, he was top half of the SEC at every 10+ depth of passing (attempt rate)...and this was at the peak of the "dink and dunk" posts:

I’m not gonna hate on him here like I’ve seen. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad he moved on because he wasn’t a good fit here under Butch and Pruitt (🤮). I wish him the best and always did.
