Seriously? Fulkerson was hit with 2 elbows to the face that resulted in a concussion, required surgery, and caused him to miss games. The shots were intentional and detrimental. Not even close to the same situation. And yet the punishments are the same.

Here is the Flagrant 2 definition: "A flagrant 2 foul involves unsportsmanlike conduct that is extreme in nature, including "when a player swings an elbow excessively and makes contact above the shoulders", or excessive or severe contact during a dead ball (men only). Fighting is also a flagrant 2 or disqualifying foul."

Boheim's contact was during a live ball situation with no contact above the shoulders. It was a cheap shot that should have resulted in a Flagrant 1. No ejection for that game or suspension for a future game.
That is result vs process. What if the kid that was punched injured his kidney or liver? Doesn't change the intent and purpose. Which was intentional harm outside of a regular basketball player. Dead ball technical fouls don't appear to consider result.

As for the quote, that is nowhere close to the full definition. That is a snippet off some random website. Here are the full current rules. I just can't imagine thinking an intentional punch to the gut should be a Flagrant 1 only. That is absurd. Jmo.

Fwiw earlier in the rules it states both Flagrant 2 Personal Fouls and Flagrant 2 Technical Fouls are ejectionable, so both are posted.
