Kiffin hasn’t even called plays the past two seasons lol. He hired away Lebby and again tried to hire Heupel’s Offensive coordinator to keep the old Baylor Veer and Shoot offense in place. Ryan Day and Heupel call their offenses. Turn on Buckeye or Vol game and you’ll see them both calling plays on the TV broadcast. Tired of the Kiffin bs. Coming back down to Earth this season

Refs mostly definitely eject players all the time for punches thrown. We'll have to agree to disagree. It wasn't just a swung elbow or regular basketball play. It was a balled fist (!Penny trigger warning!) straight to the hay.

Let's not forget the UF player that was ejected for an *intentionally* thrown elbow at Fulky. And most here wanted him out for future games as well.

I just don't think there's any place in basketball for intentional shots or punches. There has to be punishment. Boeheim can't just walk away unscathed. That would be an injustice to the other team imo. There has to be consequences, this isn't the 70s anymore where you can choke and punch players and get away with it...woody *cough* hayes...

Seriously? Fulkerson was hit with 2 elbows to the face that resulted in a concussion, required surgery, and caused him to miss games. The shots were intentional and detrimental. Not even close to the same situation. And yet the punishments are the same.

Here is the Flagrant 2 definition: "A flagrant 2 foul involves unsportsmanlike conduct that is extreme in nature, including "when a player swings an elbow excessively and makes contact above the shoulders", or excessive or severe contact during a dead ball (men only). Fighting is also a flagrant 2 or disqualifying foul."

Boheim's contact was during a live ball situation with no contact above the shoulders. It was a cheap shot that should have resulted in a Flagrant 1. No ejection for that game or suspension for a future game.

They didn't see Boeheim's punch, so they didn't call anything in the game. I think it certainly could have been a flagrant 2. It falls under "unsportsmanlike conduct that is extreme in nature." The "including" portion of the rule just provides an example but isn't all inclusive of "unsportsmanlike conduct."

I disagree on the "extreme in nature" part. It was more of an arm to the gut than a punch. An elbow to the gut would have been more extreme and wouldn't have been called a Flagrant 2.

A Flagrant 1 fits the bill: "A flagrant 1 foul involves excessive or severe contact during a live ball, including especially when a player "swings an elbow and makes illegal, non-excessive contact with an opponent above the shoulders". This offense includes the former "intentional foul" of fouling an opposing player to prevent an easy breakaway score."

I just don't agree with your interpretation of the rules. I consider any punch, anywhere as "extreme in nature." It's extreme beyond any basketball move, play, etc. An elbow to the gut is more of a basketball play if you are using it to box out...that is why they add the "above the shoulders" part.

103.3 FM, the ESPN affiliate in DFW switched to religion! 🤣 Imagine the confusion when one of their 3 listeners tuned in to talk of Hell and end of days and thought the MLB negotiations had reached a new low.
I didn't know that. I had briefly tuned in just a couple of weeks ago thinking the Mavs games were still there, only to find they moved to the Rock station The Eagle, so I'm not surprised.
