Similar to recruiting rankings, I prefer to look at KenPom rankings in terms of tiers and gaps, to adjust for margins going down the list (the way we can often see a larger gap between #3 and #8 than #8 all the way to #20 in recruiting). What is shocking this year (and vibes with most people's eye test) is how much parity there is at the top.

Take out Gonzaga...who has a light schedule let's be real...and the #2-#12 (UT) teams are only separated by less than 3 1/2 points. And if you go further down, the gap just between us and #16 is another 4 points. Basically...the top 12 teams can hardly be separated.

For reference - the gap between #2 and #12 last year was a whopping 11 points...

All I can think is this means extra madness this year. Nobody is safe.

Just like recruiting rankings….. I prefer whichever site has us rated the highest.

How far has the ACC fallen? only 1 team in the top 25.
It is unreal. The BiG and SEC have eaten up their losses as well. UNC and post-K Duke will have a potential semi-rough road ahead of them. Cuse, Louisville, and Pitt have really, and shockingly, fallen off.

Though I'd at least suspect UVA will be back in the future. Their coach is too good.

Willing to give him a chance, but I am with Bass on this one. I really would have thought we could have gotten someone a little more established. Not upset or concerned. Just seems a little weird.
If I had to guess, I would say we COULD have, but Josh Heupel chose not to. I'm of the opinion this isn't about people not wanting the job, so much as Heupel going with someone he knows and trusts.

I like giving guys working up through the ranks a shot if he feels like he deserves it….. it would be different if we were able to bring in the wide receiver coach equivalent of Rodney Garner….. I didn’t find David Johnson or the Georgia tech guy to be overly impressive candidates.

Thought Coach YAC’s previous stint unimpressive…at the position group we were hiring.

I wasn’t impressed by him but always willing to give a guy another chance as dysfunctional as we have been…… seems like parents, players, and recruits really seem to like this guy…. I hope it works out.
