Recruiting Forum Football Talk IV

Volnation I know I don't post a lot but feel like this website has been a great support network for a lot of people who love the Vols. On Monday my dad had a heart attack and has been in critical status in the icu since then. There have been a couple little positive things, but they are concerned about some potential brain swelling. Could really use some prayers or good thoughts and hope for some good results from an MRI this afternoon.
Prayers sent

Football is about creating mismatches. Tempo is an effective tool at doing so. It's no more a gimmick than putting a receiver in motion.
It would be like in basketball if a player could fall down on a fast break and the refs stop play immediately. Fortunately, they don't. If they did, the "Kiffins" of CBB would tell their players to have leg cramps every time to prevent easy scores.

I'm all for player safety. If a player goes down, they should stop the clock and let him come out of the game. If he's hurt badly enough to miss a play, he shouldn't be considered well enough 20 seconds later to reenter the game. That's cheating - "act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game."

Tempo is a strategy. Fake injuries are the gimmick.

Yep. Some say gimmick to support their narrative when innovation may be the more appropriate word. Hurry up O is the old word. The one they used in the NFL when the team who was behind tried to get more series in to catch up. But that's OK as long as its not the whole game. Yeah, OK.

Rules are rules. Evolution of the game. Adjust or get blown out. Glad we are on the side of innovation.

With no change in rules, we get to see more flopping and injury faking against our tempo O. Innovation says, OK, that it is permissible per the rules. So, we will use it on D and make a mockery of it. We will still run tempo on O and force the officials and NCAA into so much criticism they take action. When the faking starts, we will make sure our O-line rests and script the play calls for the remaining drive. We will throw more bombs and use the run to counter the pass rush instead of run first and play action pass. Etc.

Moves and countermoves. Just because we use tempo and simple routes last season, it does not mean that the full O scheme has been implemented along with the full route tree. This is just the second season. There is much, much more to come.

Need more prayers. As I mentioned I landed in San Francisco today and spending time in CA and AZ for the next 10 days.

My in laws came in town to help my wife with the house and get things ready for our future baby.

My father in law apparently is in a deep depressive episode and my MIL isn't coping with it well (she's mad and not talking to him/resentful). It's a sad situation. He won't eat and won't talk and she can hear her father sobbing and moaning in the guest room.

Prayers for you and your family. 🙏

Man. Praying. That almost sounds like a head injury of some sort.

Frontal lobe stroke, aneurysm or possible mass lesion. Could be frontal subdural hematoma too…so many possibilities with that presentation. Decreased sodium can present like that too.
Prayers for something simple and easily treatable. 🙏

Boo.. I guess the sticking point was that people would play injured instead of coming out for a series, (what I wanted) Definitely should be able to report a team and be looked into it if it's excessive like what Kiffin did to us.
Let them play hurt---that just helps us even more
